They say college football is special and unique because every game counts, every game means something. Well that's partly true, every game counts if you go on a tear and have an exceptional preseason ranking, because as long as you don't blow it no one is going to jump you for the spot in the championship game.
In last night's BCS Championship game: 55-19 USC over Okla, and Auburn is still undefeated (Auburn's games retroactively meant nothing this year). Were college football a normal sport I would have rushed home to catch the kickoff, but college football is one step above the NHL is the sanity dept. and I forgot that the "championship" game was being played tonight.
...
On second thought, I change my mind--I like the BCS. In fact for this season it'd be nice if college basketball use the BCS system, because with all the media hype capitol the Illini have acquired this year they could absorb a few road losses in the Big Ten and still easily end up the championship game without having to wade through that pesky bloated tournament field (otherwise known as games that really mean something). Here's to the Basketball Championship Series in '05!
