Yes the buzz is building--which is great--, but unfortunately the Big Ten is looming, which may kill the buzz.

Everything depends on our defense, which will probably allow around 500 yards per game. The effort will be there, but I just think we may be too small to compete.

I would be thrilled with a top 30 finish. I predicted the Illini would finish 6-5 for the season before the Rutgers game, with Rutgers and Michigan State being the two key games this year. After watching the Illini take a close one from Rutgers and knowing that the big 10 is 10-0 after the first week of the season, I'm ready to revise my outlook.

For my revised prediction, I think we will finish with 4 wins, and I'm unsure which games we will take. I'm hoping Zook will coach the team to 1 or 2 surprising victories (maybe Cal???), while I wouldn't be surprised if the team lost to Northwestern or even Indiana (it is a home game for IU afterall).

The biggest weaknesses of the team, IMO, are the O-line and D-line. Both seemed to get pushed around by Rutgers. I think our QB will improve, as will our skilled players and the secondary. But I'm concerned about how the big boys will perform against big 10 opponents.

I hope I'm wrong, as I would love to see Zook take the Illini back to a bowl. I do think the team will get better as the seaons goes on, and I am exicted to see what they can do.

i think 4 wins is very realistic. I do not think 5 wins is imposssible. I am off to sleep before the sjsu game tomorrow... I will be the one in orange!
