Poor ole Troy. Life indeed does go on, even when you lose buddy. Crying over Busch Stadium though is a bit too much...it's just a stadium which will be replace by a better one imo. Busch was a pile until it was refurbished, then it was a decent ball park. Only bad thing about the park was no air movement in that place.

Busch was, at best, a decent stadium. Piece of trash, I think, is a better way to describe it. Though I do understand how it sucks to lose a stadium with that much history in it, I've seen way too many Cubs losses there for me to feel sorry to see that place blown up.

Are you serious? Do you Cards fans really expect people to feel sorry for you because your old stadium is being torn down, something that should have happen 10 years ago? I mean, if it was Boston, ok. If it was Shea or Dodger Stadium, then fine, but Busch? Really? You Cards fans brought this hate on yourselves with this feeling that for some reason you think you all matter. St Louis and Missouri as a whole are yet another blemish in Midwestern sports history.

Busch has been arond alot longer than any other stadium.

Busch opened in 1964, Fenway and wrigley nearly 55 years earlier.................

it originally was a football stadium, so i kinda do want a new "baseball" stadium for da Cardinals............

St Louis and Missouri as a whole are yet another blemish in Midwestern sports history.

and not all card fans are from st. louis, there are more probably more in Illinois than missouri......................

cuz i ain't from missouri.......

I think Wrigley, with its 17 layers of paint, should go next. I also think the Tribune cares about 1 thing...profit margin, and i think it is foolish to support the Cubs due to the money grubbing ownership. I went to my last game at wrigley in the 80's and wont be back. Cubs fans dont cry to me about tradition, memories or any of that...you give the Tribune millions of dollars every year for what...to watch a team that more often than not is AAA quality and cant finish over .500....by the way, go buy a Tribune and chances are there will be more Notre Dame news than Illini...maybe not on any certain day but over the course of an average season it is always the case. For the life of me i cant understand why you Cubs fans put up with it all ?memories? I still have my memories of childhood Cubs games and i dont lose them by waking up and smelling the roses on what trash that organization is!!! Of course most Cubs fans are drunk at the games so i guess that makes it easy to spend $100 to watch your team get beat 7-1

Not like that place was the Chicago Stadium or something, it was a dumpie Cookie Cutter Stadium built in the 60's.....as much as I enjoyed visiting it, it will be a lot more fun at the beautiful new stadium they are building.

jp,
If seeing the cubs lose too many games in the old Busch Stadium made you dislike it so much, you're going to hate the new one even more.

You are definitely a typical cub fan. Your jealousy of the St. Louis Cardinals is shooting out of every pore in your body. Our whole family is one big Cardinal fan club. We have many friends who are also Cardinal fans. Not one of them expects anybody to feel sorry for them because Busch Stadium is coming down. Even though we all feel some sadness over the end of a stadium that was filled with many wonderful memories, most of us are very happy with the new Busch that will be up by next season. We know that it will bring us even more great Cardinal memories. We know that life goes on, things change. Unlike the cub fans who in their cold, black, despair filled hearts, know that for the cubs, nothing will change their losing ways. Now that the Red Soxs & White Soxs have won the World Series, the cubs are OFFICIALLY Baseball's laughing stock. Will it ever change? Not as long as the idiots keep throwing back the home runs hit by the opposing teams. That's why the cub fans are the worst fans in baseball. They have no sense of history and they never will.

<< St Louis and Missouri as a whole are yet another blemish in Midwestern sports history.>> >>

Yeah, right. I think it would be more truthful to write: the Chicago cubs team is THE biggest blemish in ALL of American sports history.

i don't hate the cubs, even though i'm a cardinal fan, and besides, my body hates the cubs too, but i haven't met a cub fan that's a TOTAL idiot yet...... they are nice people anyway..........

but who cares if they lose all the time anyway!!! they got their beer!!!

the cubs will always suck, but that's why everyone will always love them, so really in their hearts cub fans will always have next year, and everyone will love them next year, as long as they lose........

Where-as the Cardinals we share call a season a failure if we don't win it all...

If we had Joe Torre as our manager likle he used to be, Pujols would have two world series rings, Larussa is a great manager, but he needs to stop making the anxiety in the clubhouse as high as he does, it needs to feel loose, just go out and have fun....

The Cardinals will always win in the regular season and blow it in the playoffs
The cubs will always swim in their own mediocrity
And the fans of both teams will always be idiots

AND THAT"S WHY BOTH TEAMS RULE, BECAUSE WE"RE ALL IDIOTS!! :) :) :)

I'm a freaking idiot and proud of it!!!!!!

Faith is a good thing....so is loyalty, but i dont think the Cubs have earned it. Think about it...25,000 seats at an average of $25 and lets say the average fan spends another $25 on beer, food, and souveniers etc...times 81 home games...you've just donated $102,500,000 (not to mention TV earnings and outside sales like hats and jerseys) to a team that historically trades breakout performers as opposed to paying them what they deserve. Why not when you fans will fill the seats to watch the AAA caliber replacement.

Ok, IlliniJim, lets clear a few things up.
1. I've seen the Cubs lose there, and I've seen the Cubs win there, it still doesn't change the fact that the stadium sucked. It was probably pretty !!!!ty as a football stadium, and when they started playing baseball there, it just sucked more. Be happy with your new stadium, because Busch was nothing special. It wasn't Wrigley, or Fenway; it wasn't Shea, Dodger or Yankee Stadium. It not one of the Catherdrals of Baseball, and I think its time Cards fan stop acting like just because someone said their stadium or city sucked, that they are going to grow a pair, cross the Mississippi and attack Chicagoland.

2. Jealous of St. Louis and the Cardinals? No. Jealous of the White Sox and Red Sox? Maybe, hats at least understandable since they have won it all the last two years and didn't embarass themselves in 4 games straight like some team I won't mention. Cubs fans are the worst fans in baseball and have no sense of history? Thats just a retarded comment. Really really dumb.

About your problem.....

1. << the stadium sucked >> I'm happy with our new stadium. I'm VERY happy with our new stadium. Maybe Old Busch wasn't the greatest stadium, but "sucked". Only from a cub fan. I guess you think you can say that because cub fans are experts with what sucks, like the cubs.

<< It not one of the Catherdrals of Baseball, >> Damn, what school you went? :)

If you mean, 'It is not one of the Cathedrals of Baseball', well, actually it is. If you relate baseball to religion, a Cathedral is a place to witness, or to be with a higher power, a greatness above mere mortals. Sounds like Busch Stadium & the Cardinals to me. A cub fan just wouldn't, couldn't understand.

I'll admit, Wrigley could be one of the great Cathedrals of Baseball if only they had a "deity" to idolize. But they don't and they never will. cub fans are the equivalent of baseball agnostics.

2. << 2. Jealous of St. Louis and the Cardinals? No. Jealous of the White Sox and Red Sox? Maybe, hats at least understandable since they have won it all the last two years and didn't embarrass themselves in 4 games straight like some team I won't mention. Where do I start? You gave me so many openings…

Jealous of St. Louis? You need to go back and take some remedial reading classes. I never said anything about you being jealous of St. Louis. Actually, Chicago is my favorite city in the US.

You being jealous of the St. Louis Cardinals is highly probable, being envious is definite. You know, every year when the cubs are declared officially out of the wild card race and you get that burning in your gut and you spit out bile that has bright red streaks in it and you think it’s blood? It’s Cardinal envy. Pure & simple.

<< didn't embarass themselves in 4 games straight like some team I won't mention. >> More good spelin learnings?

Yeah, I’ll agree. It was pretty embarrassing. But, which is more of an embarrassment, (a) Winning the Central Division with a league leading 105 – 57 record, winning the League Championship and at least getting to play in the World Series… or (b) finishing 3rd in their division and playing golf or going fishing during the post season.

To add insult to injury, Cards have had 9 World Championships, 16 League Championships, 7 Division Championships & 1 Wild Card. You can almost feel the red bile building up again, can’t you?

Come to think of it, for years, I haven’t heard the announcement that the cubs were officially out of contention for the Division Championship. I guess anybody who knows baseball knows that’s pretty much a given.

<< Cubs fans are the worst fans in baseball and have no sense of history? Thats just a retarded comment. Really really dumb. >>

Earlier this year, the Cards were playing an away game and a rookie pitcher gave up only 1 run in 5 innings and when he was pulled after giving up an unearned run and leaving 2 men on base (because of a passed ball & an error) the home crowd gave him a luke warm ovation. The announcer said that it was too bad that the game wasn’t being played in St. Louis because the Cardinal fans would have given him a standing ovation because they know baseball and they respect great play even if it’s a member of the other team.

And the cubs, “The Great Respecters Of The Game” will throw back a home run ball from the opposing team. You call that a sense of history? BS.

As much as I hate the cubs, there is NO WAY that, say back in 1953 at the old Sportsman Park, I would have caught a home run of an unknown rookie on the cubs and thrown it back. Why? Because it’s history. Might have been his only home run of his career. But it was part of baseball history. Oh yeah, 17 years later, he hit his 500th homer for the cubs. Who? Ernie Banks. History. Respect for the game.

This last year, Albert Pujols hit a home run in Wrigley. Some drunk (or stupid) cub fan heard 100 drunk (or stupid) cub fans screaming, “Throw it back!!!” So he did. You call that a sense of history? If a cub fan would have caught a Joe Dimaggio home run ball, would he have thrown it back? A Ted Williams’ ball? Well, anybody with a brain, will tell you that barring injury, Albert Pujols will probably go down as one of the greatest players of all time. And you would throw back one of his home run balls?

To quote you, “Really really dumb.”
