If the selection committee uses record in last 10 games as a big factor this could come back to them. All the confidence built up from going undefeated early could be gone if they struggle in the end.

Dukes last 10 regular season games are:

at No. 3 Wake Forest
No. 8 Georgia Tech
No. 4 North Carolina
at Maryland
at Virginia Tech
No. 3 Wake Forest
at No. 8 Georgia Tech
at St. John's
Miami 7:00 PM
at No. 4 North Carolina

They could play really, really well and still only go 7-3 during that strectch, and 4-6 is by no means out of the question. Follow that up with one and done in the ACC tourney and suddenly everyone is talking about Duke's demise. I like it.

I have watched them probably 4 times this year and I can say that there is no way they are a top 5 team. No way. They are very, very streaky, and with Shav out, they have struggled. If NC State played with any intensity on defense at all, Duke never would have come back. It was tourture to watch that game last night and see a team completely inept at getting a defensive stop.

That is the thing that I love about Weber so far. He loves defense and the team mentality is that defense creates the offense. Every game where we have had offensive lulls (tOSU being the most obvious) we did not get it together until we picked up the intensity on the defensive end. And Dee is often the catalyst...

More Duke stuff. A good blog for ACC stuff busts a Duke myth this season here (http://www.davesez.com/archives/000661.php).
I hope people don't fall for this crap.

I hate Duke with a passion. Anybody think St. John's has a chance to beat them this year?

Yeah that last stretch of games it really going to hit them like a ton of bricks, but that it's all packed in the end (the way most dukies like it)....so if they climb the charts this high NOW, a loss here, win there, will still keep them in the polls long enough to give them an average run in the NCAAs unfortunetly

Thanks, man. I love Norm. He was exactly what St. John's needed. Now he just needs time.

I've spoken to him on a number of occasions, as a reporter and as a fan. He treats everyone with respect and sincerity. I have some horror stories about previous St. John's coach Mike Jarvis, so when I spoke to Roberts, I was amazed.
