Why? And besides that...he can't. For about a month or so. Was stupid to draft him in the first place while already having Jones and Peterson.

THE BEARS ARE FOR REAL

This season smells exactly like 2001. No offense, all defense. I hate to be the nay-sayer, but we aren't that good.

We'll make the playoffs and get beat b/c we can't score.

Remember that as Orton gets more experience his throws will be better and the offensive will spell the "D" a little more. Let's enjoy the ride while it lasts and remember 1984. Great "D", no "O" and the next year the "O" showed up and we were Super Bowl Champs.

Bears! Great game on Sunday, too bad Benson is hurt because he looked great two weeks ago before he got hurt. I can't wait to see what they do to Tampa and Pittsburgh.

Thats true we are all D but a 7-3 win is still a win and we just shut the 3rd highest scoring offense in the entire NFL to 3 points!!!

I agree with you that he has potential and should play more but he brought this on his self. If he has signed his rookie contract like every other rookie does, he would have been able to go to camp instead of being like 6 weeks behind everyone.

Exactly, and now is not the time to play him. (if he was healthy) Especially when you have two proven backs that know the offense more and the most important, know how to pick up the blitz. Cedric is going to be a great RB..no doubt. I just dont think it's the right time to give him time to play. If the Bear were 3-7 and if Cedric was healthy, then yeah..play him.

Bears got very lucky today....Turner called garbage plays and the d was worn out at the end, but hey it's a win at a 7-3 teams house.....

Also, Orton SUCKS. Get Rex in there already!!

Sadly, you gotta keep Orton in there. 1) We are 8-3 with him. 2) Who is to say that Rex will be able to do better (he hasn't played all season). 3) I know Orton sucks, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it (See #1).

Orton is the worst QB in football, in both the eye test and actually QB rating and other stats, so I KNOW FOR A FACT Rex will do better. And that "if it ain't broke don't fix it crap" doesn't apply here.....I could win games playing QB for this team (seriously). Orton had 72 yards yesterday other than a screen that turned into a big play against a team that had gotten TORCHED on defense it's last 2 games.

I can't believe ANYBODY would defend Orton, he SUCKS and it's so obvious. Play Rex, he can't be any worse and at least we DO know he can complete passes downfield, as we've seen it during the brief time he's been healthy.

Hey, I agree, I really do hate Orton, I hated him at Purdue, I hate him now but we are 8-3, I can't justify taking him out. Whats the point of taking him out and risking Grossman getting hurt again, thus making us put Orton back in?

The point is Rex Grossman AT WORST can do what Orton is doing now and help us keeping winning, and more than likely can give this team a legitimate passing attack, and this squad could WIN THE SUPER BOWL with a real passing attack. And if Rex gets hurt again, we now know we have a backup that can be a stopgap for our great defense.

Isn't the opposite true though that we know we have a quartback in Grossman that can take over quickly if Orton sucks it up (more than he has). It is obvious that Orton won't start next year if Grossman is healthy, and I have faith that if Orton falls any more short of the line than he already has then Lovie will put Grossman in without flinching, but I don't think we have gotten to that point yet. Now, if we lose to the Packers, thats a different story.

Your bringing up good points, however your making my point for me. I don't want us to have to lose a game before we admit Orton is no good, we should just do that now!! Orton is 17th in a 16 team conference in terms of QB rating, that is just atrocious, he can't suck it up any worse.

I can see that as well, but if we bench Orton, can we bench Turner too because there is no way Orton should be passing on 2nd and 7's, none. Part of the dismal offense has to be blamed on Turner.

Oh gosh, no argument here. People know I'm a huge Illini fan so they just say I'm a Turner hater, but I think part of the problem is him. His playcalling yesterday kept the defense on the field all game, and ALMOST cost us the game, as the defense was DEAD tired in the 4th and Tampa moved the ball as a result.

Exactly, if the offense had managed to stay on the field longer than 2 minutes at a time, maybe the defense wouldn't be so tired. If Lovie and Turner let Grossman call his own plays, then yes, put him in, but since that isn't going to happen . . .

While agree that Orton is awful, let us also remember that Rex "Glassman" has 6 career starts in three years with 3 SURGERIES. Orton is bad,but he stays healthy.

Hello Quad Cities!!! and you make a good point...Grossman clearly isnt any savior to the Bears and how can you fault Orton 10 games into his NFL career for being a lousy QB...he probably is no future pro-bowler but given a little better offense he could be an average toi slightly above average NFL QB

I agree with that, until the "given a little better offense" part. I think the offense isn't that bad, its just that Orton isn't that great. But again, if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

I sure hope the defense can win every game, because their first slip up means a loss.

Kyle Orton is seriously the worst Bears QB I have ever seen. I seriously could win games playing for this team at QB with the defense they have.

I will have to say that he did look pretty awful this Sunday. I just don't understand why they keep having him throw.

I now believe we are good, and can make playoff noise.
