I was kidding. I suppose I should use an emoticon on posts like that. I honestly didn't expect someone to realize that putting the Alma Mater is a polar opposite of the M1917 Howitzer I would like to see grace the helmet of the FIGHTING Illini.

I commend, respect, and hold every soldier, past and present in very high regard. Not a lover of the Howitzer tho. The PC police will most likely have objections also, promotes violence you know.

As much as I like the visual of the tomahawk or even railsplitter logos, I think that opens us up to a name change from the Fighting Illini to the Railsplitters (or worse)--which is the ultimate goal of the PC police, regardless of the known reference of "Illini" to the WWI vets.

PC Police? I thought we were pandering to the recruits, in which case any sort of weaponry from Halo 2 should suffice if you don't care for a WWI era howitzer.

It just reminds me of the Abingdon HS Commandos. Maybe a zipgun would work?

I would be willing to bet big money that the redesigned helmet will have some new stylized "I" or the word "Illini".

the word illinois is old and boring, and there would be so much resistance to just about any symbol, since it cant be native american related. From what I read, we cant have feathers, arrows, tomahawks, etc. that leaves us with just about nothing, except what I suggested above.

Like the two on the left, but will take either one of those (I'm over the moon that the insipid Illinois helmets are gone!) And, yes, the middle one is a BLUE matte helmet.

I agree. I'd really like to see the Blue matte one on game days.

With a better look at the middle helmet, it appears to be very similar to the blue on the tablecloth. Still hard to tell though.

That paper on the table looks a lot like wILLINI's mock-ups. I could be wrong, but look at the navy pants, that looks a lot like it. Those orange helmets need a white and navy stripe on them. I definitely like the orange on the left.

Is that wILL-INI's designs on the lower right? I can kinda make out the zig zag (feather) design on the pants. Love the arched "ILLINI" helmets but I think the one of the right is better.

I'm guessing those are wILL-INI's uniform designs because that is his ILLINI logo on the helmets. The font is exactly the same. I assumed they were switching to his concept since the first picture came out. That was also the helmet logo he designed.
