Reading this quote from JH makes it seem more likely that the rumors that he fed the egos of his recruits have some merit to them.
Why would that give the rumors any merit? Just sounds like he was concerned about it possibly happening in the future because initially they know him better.

Notice I said may give them some merit, and not proves the rumors. There is a difference.

Just read the article on Espn Chicago about Jerrance. Talk about a class act and someone who understands college basketball...best of luck Coach.

SMU's Larry Brown has also hired former NBA players Eric Snow (player personnel guy) and George Lynch (strength/conditioning) - per source.

SMU close to landing transfers Josiah Turner, Crandall Head

Illinois transfer Crandall Head will visit next week and told CBSSports.com that the Mustangs are the leaders.

"I trust Jerrance," Head said on Monday night. "They are the leader."

Head also said that playing for a head coach who has coached more than 2,000 NBA games is important.

"It matters a lot," Head said. "We all want to get to the next level and I can learn a lot from Coach Brown."

Wouldn't it be natural to expect it to happen in the future if you know it's already happened in the past??? Not a diss on Jh, just saying.

i have a feeling that when smu hits the big east in 2013 they will be good, also think that they will have a top 5 recruiting class if not the number 1, as theres a ton of texas players in the 13 class, they get Crandall and that Turner from arizona will help, also look for that Jordan Clarkson to look there

If he is eligible scholastically, he would be eligible second semester (January 2013...if SMU is on a semester system). NCAA requires you sit one year, and he withdrew before the second semester.

My understanding is that he wasn't enrolled in school anywhere this Spring and that he was already behind academically. If so, I think it will be very difficult for him to meet progress requirements to be eligible January.

Crandall Head is all talk. I'd be surprised if he ever plays another minute of college basketball.

Sounds like JHow didn't close the door on coming back some day. Hopefully he can come back, win a NC or 10 and move on to the NBA.

I doubt JH will return to Illinois.

As for Crandall, good luck if he gets an offer from SMU. Were I those guys, I'd be thinking long and hard before opening that door.

Please let an Illini fan buy that car. For that price I would be concerned that an IU fan or frat house would pick it up.

I'd love to see a photo of the car.

BTW, what are suicide doors?

Wow, I'm sure he will get a ton of offers. I'd think he could pull more than 5 grand, this is Snacks' Caddy we're talking about here!

Ex-Illini guard Head to visit SMU

Former Illinois guard Crandall Head said Wednesday he plans to visit SMU next week, but he is also still considering attending DePaul next year..

Head said he didn't regret leaving Illinois, but he wishes he had stayed the entire year.

"I'm pretty happy with my decision with leaving," Head said. "It probably wasn't the time to leave in the middle of the school year. That's probably my only regret."

I wonder if Brown will delegate Josiah's babysitting to Jerrance?

Arizona transfer Josiah Turner lands with Larry Brown at SMU

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebask...y-brown-at-smu

Turner had a tumultuous first season with the Wildcats, getting suspended multiple times before being dismissed from the team for off-court issues. He was also arrested by campus police last week and charged with extreme DUI. As Goodman has said, though, if Brown could handle Allen Iverson, Turner should be a walk in the park.

If you were wondering what "extreme DUI" is, it is apparently specific to Arizona law and reflects a BAC over .150.

Understood, however I would say Luther would have been on even shakier ground after his suspension early in his career...that one turned out ok
