The IHSA's eight football title games will be held in DeKalb on Thanksgiving weekend in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021. The games will remain at the University of Illinois' Memorial Stadium in Champaign in even years (2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020). The schedule variation was necessitated by a change in the Big Ten Conference football schedule that will have the University of Illinois playing home games on the IHSA state final weekend in odd years.

Hmm. Well, on the one hand, it's good to have the Big Ten playing later, on the other hand, it sucks not to have the state title being played in Champaign. It further erodes the sense of U of I as "State U".

I am conflicted.

I am surprised they werent able to swing a deal at ISU, which makes much more sense, imo for the years in question.

correct me if Im wrong, didnt ISU host them in the 70's ? I seem to recall years when the first 4 classes were at ISU on Sat and the two largest classes (5 & 6) were at Northwestern on Sat as well.
