No problem. I thought the exactly the same thing.

I, too, thank you for sharing, Huntsville. It applies to us perfectly right now. I wish there were some way we could get this article to our Illini, both the team and student body as well as the fans and coaches...it might give everybody a different positive perspective.

I realize I'm not the first one to state this but,
Beckman = Dan Hawkins

What a blunder for the program.

There is not enough data collected or time elapsed to make this comparison. Therefore, said comparison is both ridiculous and too soon to make. Thank you for your input. Please return to reassert your conclusion in three years - IF it is valid at that time.

This game could be rough, or we could pull it off. I don't know what to expect. At the beginning of the season I didn't even think of IU as a remotely-possible loss. Now...I don't know.

OlivetNaz....Orangetool is referencing this article...this is not a random comparison

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/10/...kmans-success/

I believe that so far the Beckman Hawkins comparison seems likely. Should have been a red flag when many Toledo assistants chose to stay with Campbell. I think Campbell was the reason for Beckman's success at Toledo. Now I am not advocating anything rash and understand that Beckman will get three years, but I absolutely agree with the article.

The article is flawed in trying to compare two vastly different situations. When Hawkins went to Colorado, he took his ENTIRE staff with him except for Chris Petersen. However, when Beckman came here, most of the offensive staff decided to stay in Toledo. In addition, Gary Barnett left a good amount of talent in Colorado for Hawkins to work with. Zook left Beckman with very little depth and no offensive playmakers except for (maybe) Scheelhaase.

Therefore, while the comparison might be warranted, it is much too soon to tell. Beckman will get three years and probably 4 to prove he can do the job. If, after 3 years, we still look like crap AND Toledo is still riding high, the comparison will be warranted.

Given that IU just lost to Sagarin No. 87 Navy on the road, I think we can agree IU is beatable. Time for this team to rise up and show some life.

Indiana will be the second worst team we play, right? We will win.

3rd worst. Western Michigan is rated below Indiana. We need a win badly and get some confidence and maybe end this year opposite of last year playing our best ball against our weaker competition

Do the rankings include the spring game?

This is laughable. Indiana played strong in most of their games including vs. Ohio St:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/...diana-hoosiers

Even at home, I doubt we win. Haven't seen any signs of improvement and in fact, regression over the first 7 games.

It would be nice to see a positive post from you about anything. Always negative in every thread I've seen u post on. Some aspects of Illinois Athletics are looking better.

Look at my basketball post just from today about Dicky V's praise on BP3. Your generalizations are false and short-sited. Try not to generalize others.

IU also lost to very week teams in Ball State and Navy. And they won a close game over Indiana State at home. So while they played MSU and OSU close, they also lost games they shouldn't have lost. I suppose that is why they come into Champaign with a record of 2-5, and why most objective systems peg this as a close game.

Illini checking in at #108 in new ranking. Two spots ahead of Western Michigan, and just below Stony Brook and Old Dominion.

Go Illini!

Vegas is smarter than you. That's why they have all those big fancy hotels and casinos that take all your money.
