On the surface it may seem strange, but if you look at it from the kid's pov, he gets a chance to play in the Big Ten, gets a great, free and prestigious education and maybe he thinks he can beat Alviti out for a starting job. It's great to be a teenager with all the confidence in the world.
I don't know either player at all, but I do remember at that age I thought I was better than a lot of guys who were deemed better than me. And sometimes I was right. Finally, Northwestern has shown that it doesn't mind playing more than one QB in the same game. Seems like a pretty good move to me, long view. __________________ "Illinois...I'm your boy..." That's a good comparison but I think he has more upside. I have seen him play a couple of games this year and he is a raw talent. He will need to bulk up and work on his accuracy but he has 4.3 speed, a big arm, and good pocket presence. This was his first year starting at the varsity level. I still think his best bet to make the nfl will be as a WR but we will see how much he improves at QB in the next 4-5 years

According to ESPN, Ole Miss is indeed in Augusta's top 3:

Ok. Augusta's top 3 are 1.Mizzou 2. MSU 3. Ole Miss. Illinois is 4th. But he is still taking his official visit in January.
This per the ESPN article. |

Depending on numbers I wonder if we don't take a 2nd QB in this class? I think close to signing day we may end up offering Todd Porter after his solid senior year.
Again, just my speculation based on if the numbers allow it. |
