The first time I heard this story, it was a 16. Then it was widely reported at 14. Now it is 12. At the rate his score is dropping, by the end of this season, he will have misspelled his name on it and gotten a 4.

Class of 2013 has chance to contribute immediately

"Even though we didn’t have as successful a football season as we wanted, they made the commitment that they can come here, be involved with the family and be involved in possibly playing in 2013," Beckman said.

"I ask any player who comes in, do they want to watch or do they want to play? A lot of players who are 18 years old want to play. They want to be involved in college football."

Tim Beckman: 'It is our prerogative to recruit this state'

Fifteen of the 25 total recruits are from what Beckman calls "Illini nation," a six-hour radius around Champaign. Another four are from the Chicago area. In all, eight recruits are from Illinois, the most of any Illinois recruiting class since 2008.

"We believe in this state and we understand that this state has very competitive and very well-coached football teams," Beckman said. "It is our prerogative to recruit this state and be involved in this state as much as we possibly can."

Signing Day: Illini seeking instant help

Bailey could be a future starting quarterback for the Illini. He wasn't recruited everywhere as a quarterback because some questioned his throwing ability, but Beckman has promised him a shot at the position. Bailey led Bolingbrook to a Class 8A state title as a junior while at quarterback.

"He might have been the No. 1 guy they thought they had to get in the 2013 class, Shanker said. "They beat out some big schools for him. He's the headline recruit for Beckman since coming to Illinois."

I attempted to tip off the staff to an under recruited back near me, no dice. We'll be hearing from him at Iowa in a couple years.

I know Sean Hussey isn't going to make much news on here but here is the local paper writeup on it:

He went to Iowa? That's unfortunate cause their RBs are cursed.

The only way the Hawkeyes can break the curse is with jersey backs. Albert Young and Shonn Greene both wound up in the NFL.

Alex Collins announces he’s going to Arkansas, while his mother hires a lawyer

Quote:
Just when it seemed the story of four-star running back Alex Collins not being able to sign his letter of intent with Arkansas because his mother would not let him couldn't get any weirder, it did.

Just before Collins announced he was carrying through with his plan and signed his letter of intent to play football at Arkansas, this time with his father's signature on the letter, Collins' mother Andrea McDonald hired an attorney, several outlets reported. A press release sent out said the law firm was hired to "represent the family's interests." Oh, and the law firm is the Cochran Firm, founded by the late Johnnie Cochran, famously O.J. Simpson's lawyer for his murder trial.

A couple thoughts post signings, prefaced with I might be back here for some humble pie. First I think this class is underated across the board. Thou I sa w agood looking rb with an arm that could make any throw I have reservations about Bailey until he proves to can make his reads and go thru his progressions. That said he have in my opinion six 4* quality recruits, with 3 or 4 more with enough upside to be the equivalent of high 3*. I don't think they missed on anyone they landed. So let see how they coach them up.
Second watched the tape on the two walks Hussey is preferred and sad to say wish he wasn't if that meand hs get a schollie the following year. While very accurate I saw nothing showing his ability to make enough of the required passes to compete on a big stage the BIG.

Definitely a good choice of words for a Michigan signee

How long do you think he will last before they run him out of town?

Out of curiosity, did Ruben Dunbar or Dalton Keene sign with a school? Both of their profiles on Scout don't have them signed or committed to any school. If either signed, which school did they sign with?

ESPN's recruiting has him listed as a signee. Odd that we didn't hear about him.

Although this article from a week ago mentions he committed to Illinois St.
http://www.pantagraph.com/sports/col...ment_form=true

Probably just a mix up. Someone saw "Illinois" and didn't notice "State" or it could have just been that Illinois state is right next to Illinois alphabetically and whoever was updating the website mis-clicked.

This is from Illinois State's website. It a description of all of their signees, which includes Will Pretty.

I am pretty sure he signed with them because they couldn't talk about him without his LOI.
