It sounded a little sloppy but a solid win. They should have kept up the intensity but I bet Coach Weber address that issue. Sounded like BP had a great 1st half then cooled the second half but Tizzy and Davis stepped up the second half. We need our veterans to step it up. GO ILLINI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The shooting went cold for the 2nd half. NIU played a decent game. Nobody got hurt so let move to the next game.

Rebounding, again, is awful. Poor shot selection. But Davis looked good and Paul's 1st half was spectacular.

Defense really stepped up in the 2nd half.

Saw glimpses of what should be to come. Need some defense, rebounds, and consistency. Overall, got good experience for the young guns. We'll take it and move on.

GO ILLINI!!!!

Strange lapses in defensive attention for chunks of the game. When they want to, the team can actually play some decent defense. Outside of Davis, I don't know where we get consistent rebounding this year.

It looked sloppy at times too.

Davis had a very good game. Glad to see he's back to scaling tall buildings.

We saw two completely different versions of Paul. Lights out shooting and 20 points in the first half; can't buy a bucket in the second. Not holding it against him though. It just shows he is still a work in progress - which is great, because he'll be ridiculous when he's more refined.

The team looked good when things were going well. They were lucky they were playing NIU when things weren't going well. Beating up on cupcakes might feel nice in November, but obviously the team needs to learn from these games if they're going to beat top teams.

I love love love how Paul played tonight. 20 points in the first half showed him and the rest of the country that he can be an absolute monster. But there's no doubt that the second half will be fresh in his mind for the next few days and it should keep his head from getting too big.

That kid Paul's pretty good. Yikes.

Davis could have a monster season if he wants it.

Good things & things to work on.

Scary at the beginning and during a large stretch of the 2nd half. Consistency was not there.

Lots to be optimistic about:
Paul's 1st half,
DMac's assists,
Davis' overall line,
Tiz showing some signs,
Griffey with 8 pts in 9 minutes,
Keller with 10,
FT = 73%,
DJ's throwdown at the end.

GO ILLINI !!!!

Home. Wasn't that bad tonight, course it wasn't full, either.

I thought we looked rather sloppy on defense at times, but we pulled it out when we needed to. Still lots to work on, but another solid win. Paul is going to be a stud.

I don't know if you guys noticed it, but it appears that Tisdale is screening out the defenders on some of the rebounds, upon which Davis picks them up. Noticed it on a number of plays. Its almost exactly what IL did when Kuwyawa was on the team.

Inconsistent but that was to be expected early in the season. Fix some things and improve the consistency and we'll be fine. Still almost won by 20 despite their best effort. They came in with their A game tonight.

Remeber we are playing two freshman and another one of the bench. I'm just going to be patient with this team.
