I would love to get him DaVaris Daniels (WR), Evan Spenser (WR), Jordan Walsh (OG), Victor Nelson (OT), and/or Keante Minor (WR); they are all 4* or 5* and in ILLINOIS this could be a great recruiting year if the team executes and does well out there. Throw in some DTs like Mason Fuller (3* Chicago) and Michael Rouse (3* Flossmoor), some MLBs and OLBs like Lamar Dawson (3* MLB Danville Ky) and Lateek Townsend (3* OLB Bennettsville SC) and some DBs and DEs and we will be set. I would like to see Luke and Kyle McAvoy (OT and OG) come, they could make a good combo if they develop (I am a Bloomington/Normal man after all).

It is true that we have a stable of good young RB's but remember we didn't take one this year and if Coe redshirts (unlikely seeing as how he is a 5*) he would have a couple years to be the man.

Regardless, this kid is too talented to say "we have too many RB's" and not take him.

AHS you are right. He could be like Mendenhall and be a BAMF his junior and senior years. If he gets hurt late senior year (hope he doesnt) he could red shirt a freshman year and have more time. I hope it doesnt happen and he plays for the O&B, he already wears Orange in HS and Black and Gold is nothing like Orange and Blue.

I don't know how much they're going to use a FB in the offense, but they should hurry up and give an offer to Dee McMath (Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin) now. I think this kid may be ranked as the #1 FB in the nation after all the summer camps. He is a monster.

We might be sitting better with Coe than you think. Misery already has a RB committment in Anthony Pierson from St Louis. He's on the Rivals 250 to watch for 2011, and Coe isn't. Take that FWIW though.

Have you checked out Coe's scout ranking? he is a 5 -star player.

Here's a link to a picture of McMath.

Ok, so that automically means we don't have a shot at him? I've seen his ranking on Scout, but he isn't even listed as 250 to watch on Rivals. I'm just saying this Pierson is probably going to be as high rated and Misery has already landed him.

Coe is the best player in Illinois and it isn't close.

It's a joke Rivals doens't have him on there.

rivals always updates late.. coe will be there for sure, top 50 prospect or at least on its rivals 120. high 4-star rating is likely.

Although I believe in "never say never", how badly does Reilly O'Toole sound like a goner already? His parents went to KU and three of his siblings are at KU.

If we have a good season I'm sure we will have a great shot at Coe. We have way better coordinators and assistants now.

Bring all your friends to the games and slip him some "lunch money." (just kidding about the second part)

Naperville North QB - 2011 Prospect

I heard Zook's staff is looking strongly at Matt Lacrosse from Naperville. Hopefully, the ILLINI staff can land one of Illinois' best football talents...

I found some more info on Matt at the following website:

6'6" and 216 lbs, sure is a big boy. Have any websites put together 2011 rankings for Illinois yet? I am going to be quite interested to see who are the top names out there.

The only 2011 names are the ones I have seen on here, Scout, Rivals etc

It's a well know fact that most of the top high school teams come from the west suburbs. If Matt Lacosse is starting at Naperville North HS for a second year in a row, he has to be one of the top prospects in the state.

I told my little brother to get in his ear about Illinois.

I said everytime you see him in the hallway yell "I-L-L" as loud as you can.

Its about time Illinois starts pursuing kids from the DVC (DuPage Valley Conference). I feel as if we have passed up on kids or not have given them a shot.

See:
Evan Watkins QB 6'6" 225 - NW
Mike Trumpy RB 6'1" 200 - NW
Dan Dierking RB 5'10" 200 - PU
Will Matte C 6'2" 285 - IU
Nick Adamle OL 6'4" 300 - NW
Harrison Daniels QB 6'2" 190 - Princeton

While not all of these kids may have been 4 or 5 star players, these kids definitely had a ton of talent for instate players, being all-state or all-area players. A couple of these had family history of talent. Dierking's father played for Purdue and played for the NY Jets, Daniel's brother is currently a tight end for the Houston Texans.

So when is the next big Junior Day event? Is it during the spring game? Or will there be one beforehand? Any idea when the Spring Game is?
