We do seem to ignore some 3 and occasionally 4 star rated kids with potential from our own state. Happens every year and the talk is the same - didn't have it academically or made it apparent he did not like Illinois. Many actually seem to want to play at Illinois and never get the offer they seek and go elsewhere and have good college careers.
I could name many but I won't - this year there were a lb and a WR from near Chi though. Last year there were a cpl puzzlers as well. Big Bob in Brandon |

Bob,
Do you have any names to keep an eye on from Florida? Hearing anything positive at all for the Illini or is it way too early right now? |

Update
Quote:
Illinois has interest in Kortland and vice versa. They just sent him a hand written letter and they want to talk to him and meet with him. Its funny because the coach that is recruiting (Deandre Smith) him actually recruited me when I was in high school. He was the running back coach at Northern Illinois (I ended up going to Eastern Illinois to play Running Back). We will be talking with him soon. Just thought I'd give an update. Coach Webb. here is the link to his film if you haven't seen it already. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp4UOl_Leg8 __________________ Kortland Webb, ATH, C/O 2011, ST.LOUIS, MO Highlights- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp4UOl_Leg8 |

Wow!!! you could use Kortland @ so many different positions.... How big is he?...Some of those runs you could call him "Snap,Crackle,Pop", because that's the sound the Defensive players ankles are making...

Yes Kortland is my youngest brother. But check this out, I have another brother named Kendall and he is playing ball at Illinois State!!! We played them this year for the season opener and of course I was on the field during pregame getting excited as if I were playing. But it was great to see my brother Kendall even though he was on the wrong sideline. But it was fun, he loves it at ISU and this year he redshirted. So I think it would be awesome if all three of us went to Illinois schools. Good talking with you. __________________ Kortland Webb, ATH, C/O 2011, ST.LOUIS, MO Highlights- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp4UOl_Leg8 |

Yes we had facemasks back then. Not that I dont want your brother to be an ILLINI but I bet Spoo is after him hard. Spoo put a very good 2010 class together. That old man knows how to win!! Any intrest in EIU? |

s and he is running track right now. But we have him in the weight room, however he probably won't start to put on more weight until this summer when we have more time for strictly football training and weight lifting. He starts at QB, but due to the numbers we will have next season, he will be playing some at cornerback. He is a natural out there on the field and really can play corner. He has long and great hips so he will fit nicely into that position for us. He had to go in during a big game late in the season for a few plays and on the first play he tackled a BIG back and hurt his throwing shoulder. The rest of the game he had trouble throwing the ball, so that's kind of the draw in playing him on defense. That said, he will be more effective for us as a team at Qb because of his play making ability throwing and running the ball. __________________ Kortland Webb, ATH, C/O 2011, ST.LOUIS, MO Highlights- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp4UOl_Leg8 |

Good talking with you sir and of course I remember seeing that team picture of your class. Coach Spoo is a great guy, I love him! He gave me an opportunity to live my dream of playing running back in college (other schools wanted me at cb) and I'm forever grateful for that. I'm not sure if Spoo himself saw Kortland on film, but the staff did and they love the film. As time goes on, I expect for more interest from Eastern to pick and I will keep you posted. So you played with Coach Payton? What position? __________________ Kortland Webb, ATH, C/O 2011, ST.LOUIS, MO Highlights- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp4UOl_Leg8 |

Coach Webb, your brother is impressive. What is his 40 time? I like his ability to change directions quickly, but I am not really sold on his throwing mechanics. Looks like a great wildcat guy, or even possibly a RB... great balance, great shiftiness and seems elusive.

I did, I played cb.I walked on as a Jr so I played mostly kick coverages. I started out at Wabash and came to EIU when Coach Spack went there. It was closer to home and a bigger program. Last I heard he was head coach now at ISU. I loved everything about Eastern. Never had much contact with Sean..by then he was well on his way to 10k yards. Best of luck to your teams and your brother.

Did anyone see the Rico Butler rumor on the I-N.com board? Was that ever confirmed? There was some speculation he might have committed... but it looks like he at least received an offer.
I think he is a RB from Ohio, sorry kind of busy at work so do not have a lot of time to research this now. Anyone hear anything definite? |

any updates on recruits? I'm tired of all the other stuff and just want things to get back to normal by talking about recruiting and the upcoming season.

Right on re talking about recruiting and mostly next season and hopefully a better effort (hopefully is emphasized) from every one connected to the Fighting illini football team. We can win at least 6 next year ----> all it will take is one mild upset and winning the ones we should win. We have a lot of talent returning next season and a cpl guys that should break out with big years.
Go Illini ! Big Bob in Brandon |

Zeph Grimes, 6'0 205 4.53, S, SC is listed on scout as having high interest in IL and Georgia Tech. Good news. Every day on rivals and scout new kids are listed as having offers by Illinois. A lot of these kids look like great prospects and are rated highly yet this board is dead. I know it is early but maybe we need to pass around some coolaid to liven things up.
