Or it could just as easy have the opposite effect by shining a light on the handlers agenda IMO. As they won't want their underhanded efforts put on display for public viewing. Thus driving them further into the background with their effort to influence M. Shaw.

What I mean is if you are a cheating handler that is looking for a handout.
And that fact or opinion is made public, you may be inclined to backoff because it could hurt you with future recruits and or getting top players to play for your AAU team or your next meal ticket.

Wow, after reading the article in the SJR, it dawned on me how awesome it would be to get this guy! A 6' 8" MSU type rebounder/monster - amazing! I sure hope all goes according to plan today!

Frankly, the Klee thing is tame compared to some of these other publications we're seeing. But after one analyst jumps the gun, it puts extreme pressure on other publications to do leg-work and get something out there. Example: after the Brett Favre scandal was broken by Deadspin, TMZ seemed completely quiet about it. They're usually on scene before the ambulances arrive, if you know what I mean. And here it took them two days after Deadspin broke the story to even put up a single article about it. They finally were pressured into it after receiving accusations of racism in their differing treatments of Brett Favre and Tiger Woods under what was essentially the same scandal. They had to keep up with the Joneses, so to speak. I think this is why Klee kept the article short and more focused on what it would mean to the Illinois team of 2011. I personally believe he should have kept his tense in a future participle "I-don't-really-know-what's-going-on-even-though-I-really-do" sort of way. What would it mean to Illinois if Shaw commits? Rather than portraying it as a done deal, he could have spun it like, "Well there are reports that he's committing, but I'm not going to affirm them. I'll simply give my take on what happens if they end up true." |

Sun-Times and Tribune have gone on record. You get the fame, you get the blame. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. |

Actually, the biggest problem I had with this article was this tidbit: Quote:
It just bothered me that the article by the Lafayette Journal which was pure speculation was turned into more than that. |

"Defensively, he can go out on the perimeter and guard somebody, and then on the inside he can play pretty well on the post defense or stepping up the lane. I think defensively he's very, very versatile inside and outside," said Tom White, Shaw's high school coach. White said Shaw has a lot of "growth" left in his game, believing he's in the "learning stages" still and will benefit from more instruction at the next level. As for Shaw's potential impact at Illinois, it's widely assumed that he would receive playing time right away because Illinois will be thin down low after the graduation of Mike Tisdale and Mike Davis. In that situation, it's likely Shaw would be asked to do what he does best: rebound. His offensive game still needs some refining, but White gives a positive breakdown and says he will be dangerous, even if it takes some time. |

Westerlund's HQ article linked above also says:
"On the offensive side, he can shoot the 3 or drive in and use both hands to score around the basket...He can create on his own with a dribble or two and get to the basket," White said. "He has great backboard touch." Since I'm left handed, I noticed on some of the videos of Shaw that he made some shots and moves with his left hand......does anyone know if he is left handed? |

What a perfect fit for Mike and Chasson if they become Illini. Illinois high school basketball players are fantastic and they look great in orange and blue. Flying Illini part II is on the runway get your tickets and enjoy the flight!

if shaw was not choosing illinois.... his family/coaches would be alllll over the place - media, newspapers, online, blogs, etc. saying no decision has been made and there are still 3 great schools in the running etc. last thing the family wants is "this" happening (all assuming he is illini bound) and then have it look like the state school was lead on or blown off. he is coming to illinois
