I know what if, but who would have expected McCamey to bottom out in January/early February and MD to be so flat and uninspired as a senior in December when you'd think he'd be fighting for his hoops future and to "leave a legacy" at UI with a great senior season?
This really it in a nutshell as to why it's a frustrating season.

the dmac out of shape thing is weird as well... first off i did not see him over the last 4 years asking to come out of games cuz of fatigue and second iirc coach price said basically when he takes his shirt off he could be in a P90X commerical....!!!!!!

so maybe it is just his particalur build/frame and he is in shape just thicker body type. idk, but i dont think he is out of shape fwiw

I was at the Iowa game on Dec. 29th. I thought he was sick because he asked out of the game several times. I seriously thought when I got home I would read about him being sick.

hmmm, well he has averaged over 30 minutes for four straight years

I just dont see him getting tired and asking but i believe you.. so much is asked of him and he probably should be tired. im not defending or aurgering just pointing out he is in shape, just bigger body frame (coaches mouth)

I am not saying he is out of shape. I just know what I saw. I actually sent a text to a friend during the game and asked if they had said he was ill. Being in a game at Iowa, they were very good seats.

I'm not projecting or reading his mind, I'm just interpreting what he said and when he said it. If you have a problem with his assesment of the team, that's fine, but what would you have preferred he do? Say we're a team closer in talent to PSU and will be lucky to make the tournament? I have no problem with a coach attempting to motivate his team.

If a team is not driving to the basket or setting picks to get to the basket then they don't get many fouls. You don't get many fouls passing the ball around the perimeter.
The Illini are at their best when they drive or pass inside to Davis and JRich and then kick it back out to the perimeter for the open shot. Driving is part of getting to the line but in my opinion our offense is best when it mixes up the drive and the perimeter shot. Its probably not as easy to do as it looks.

Lots of "if's" in there, for sure. These seniors could be called the "IF Class".

McCamey gained about 10 pounds over Christmas break according to a team source. You could see him lose a step on his attempts to dribble drive in BT games.

I have a tough time believing this. Christmas break couldn't have meant more than a few days without practices, so he would have to really be forcing down the sweet potatos and glazed ham to put on that kind of weight in the middle of the season.

I was told he weighed in about 10 pounds heavier than he was at earlier in the season. Some of it he might have gained in late November and December. Bottom line is he got heavier and lost a step. He seems a bit quicker now, having worked himself back in shape.
