Call me crazy but the best cb tape I saw was Frazier crazier Kelly for ss out of dc. Kid who is reading who's notes agree Frazier 4*.
Hermosillo would be a nice get and could see him splitting time out of the hb and slot.
When Spearman says yes to the o+b is the time to get excited first the the verbal then the party. Right now it feels a little like follow the leader after LT did it less than a week ago.

Those of you fimiliar with Simeon how is it the coach can have that much control over RS that if the kid wants to commit and the parents are okay with it that the kid has to talk to the coach first? Please really.

Maybe it is just out of respect for his coach he wants to talk it over with him......

Simeon is a public league program and doesn't have the resources of other Chicagoland schools. The longer their top kids stay uncommitted, the more coaches come. Hopefully more of their second tier kids get noticed then and get a scholarship to a school too.

It is all about getting as much exposure as possible.

It's amazing the power and egos that the Simeon coaches think they possess. I don't think football is nearly that of their basketball program, though.

Every high school varsity coach i've ever met thinks they're a bigger deal than they are.

Any impact on our recruiting from the supposed penalties on PSU?

Beck and Co have done great and I am sure they will only trend up.

I wondered if Penn State gets the death penalty, would any OL or WR's possibly transfer to ILL to get to play? I wasn't sure if the BIG would say the players could not transfer to a BIG 10 school? I would think they would all be eligible right away.

In USC's case they had it where seniors would immediately eligible. If they do give PSU the axe, a few seniors off their roster would be nice. Depending on who they could potentially get, it could make what I think will be a special year to an even more special one. Also, their recruits would be welcome too haha. That sounds great on Spearman too. Hopefully he commits and hopefully Treadwell, Garrett, etc. are visiting with him.

I just read his Twitter. I'd say its safe to say we should be on commitment watch within the next few days. He was talking with Mosely about getting Illini gear. Also I want to stress again that Spearman committing could be huge off the field too. Not only is he good friends with Garrett, but apparently he stays at Pocic's, etc. With how I think the season will go, this class could go from very good to epic very fast. And 2014 is shaping up to be an absolute monster.

I'm feeling like Spearmen is ours to lose. He would be a great get. Aren't him and Treadwell friends too? Could help us out with LT.

He might be but the whole friend/package deal thing rarely works. I wouldn't hood my breath on Treadwell. He is likely headed to Michigan or OK st.

The longer Treadwell does not commit elsewhere, the better our chances imo.

Do you expect kids to remain uncommitted until the season is over?

TIA.

^^^

I could see us getting a 2014 commitment before the season starts.

I think what Kid was saying is that if we have the type of season he expects, he could see a few guy flipping commitments to us, and some bigger prospects in the Southeast etc will look at us a lot closer once they begin to take official visits (during or after the season).

We absolutely HAVE to be at least 7-5 this season. At least. 8-4 somehow would be huge.

Yep basically. I think it'll be very good regardless but it could go to another level with the season I expect them to have).

Yes they are. If you missed it, Spearman while down at the Team USA practices (That's when he got the offer) tweeted they would be coming down together. I'd imagine that's still the case. Regardless of what anyone tells you don't think Treadwell is a lean. I don't buy all that Michigan stuff. That's just a combination of pressure from some of their overhyped recruits, thirsty fans/mods recruiting them and even some of the "recruiting experts" pushing Michigan. I don't think it'll be enough though. You're now seeing the Rose Bowl, elite players, etc. effects where these guys grew up Illini fans. I don't know if Treadwell is in that specific category but the recent history (And the fact that he could take it to another level) will prove big for Treadwell IMO.

Like kramer said there's definitely a chance a 2014 commit happens before the season. They are near or at the top for a bunch of potential superstars.
