The fact that no one could see any of these images is beside the point; fans of "Only Orange" would know they were there.
lol what?

I wish our head coach wasn't so embarrassing, of course it won't matter if he produces a lot of wins.

are you ridiculed by your peers over it? or embarassed to admit being an illini fan in front of other teams' anonymous message board fans?

I'm at least glad he's embarrassing because of silly tweets instead of embarrassing because of a record of terrible performance.

New football uniforms....

Sorry Dan, there's some pretty inappropriate language hidden on that shirt. Hope it's acceptable here

I have one exactly like that!!! I even bought an Orange sweatshirt with a somewhat derogatory remark about my least favorite B1G team (has a picture of a wood screw and a large M).

Yep. Two of my friends were at my house during Beckman's introductory press conference and they laughed through most of it.

They were polite, calling him a "joker". That's what happens when your coach screams about everything and is over-enthusiastic.

But like I said earlier, if he wins games consistently, I don't care how annoying he is.

Your friends are idiots then.

There's a huge difference between being enthusiastic about your new team and being annoying. Beckman's nowhere close to being the latter.

Then you need to learn to stand tall before peer pressure gets the better of you. Beckman has a tough road, and I'm glad that he's enthusiastic. He's not over-the-top like Corso & Vitale.

I didn't find Beckman the least bit embarrassing in his press conference or since. A coach SHOULD be enthusiastic. Your cynical friends, however, should feel embarrassed.

I have to admit, I've never known anyone who has shown more enthusiasm for steaks, cakes and lasagna than Coach Beckman. Just for that, he's got my vote. Oh, and his love for all things orange. We have that in common as well. He's a good man.

How is Beck embarrassing? Why wouldn't he be enthusiastic? Why wouldn't a Midwestern guy getting to coach in the B1G not be enthusiastic? I love the "Only Orange" statement, too. It's great marketing. Along with AD Thomas,, Beckman has brought an updated approach and has quite a few up and comers on his staff. The last thing this guy has been so far is "embarrassing."

I'm not sure you or most the other posters really "got" what I was saying

I can take a joke, it's hard to imagine a scenario like the one of my friends laughing at Beckman, but their intentions weren't cruel. They found it funny that he never missed an opportunity to drop a name and they laughed at his STEAKS AND CAKES and LASAGNA lines. Which is understandable, obviously a lot of other people find him humorous, he has a fake twitter page that posts in all caps

My friends are just used to Nick Saban's interviews, who is the polar opposite of Tim Beckman. That's probably why they found it so funny.. they're used to boring Saban interviews and then bam... 20 minutes of Beckman yelling at the camera, completely different styles, but Saban has had more success than any coach alive(right?) and Beckman is nothing like him so of course they're going to think he's a character

If that's the case, it's rather odd to have used the words "embarrassing" and "annoying" in the previous posts as a description of what you/your buds think/thought of Beckman.

I'm not a lover of the block I tho. There has to be something better to put on the helmets.
How about a Chief logo!!

The best helmets, in my view have simple, iconic designs. Since we effectively don't have a mascot, an iconic logo for Illinois will have to be based upon the letter "I". The letter "I" also does double duty in representing both Illinois and Illini. I'm open to something other than the block I, but the script Illinois doesn't work.

Oh, no. I still think he's both those things. He acts very "tom crean-ish" and that is a little embarrassing and annoying.

We go to practice in a hour. Just wanted to tell every one we cannot wait to see you in here Thursday night. Get here early

Tom Crean makes practice seem like a threat. "Get here early." Or else...
