Good stuff moving the opposing fans. Too often opposing teams would go over to 109 to celebrate with their fans. Hopefully, we'll win our home games but in the event we don't it won't be as painful as before. It's the little things!

Hmmm... kind of sucks you have no idea where you'll be sitting yet. I'd hate to end up in the balcony, but that's just me. Does anyone know if it's possible to call in as opposed to doing it online?

Clicking on "student tickets" is giving me an error right now. Says, "There are no events or items on sale at this time." Do those start at a later date then regular renewals, anyone know?

Probably. Don't worry about it too much, those probably won't sell out, and even if they did it wouldn't be until the fall. Plus with the system they use you're just buying vouchers, so there's no benefit to buying them early or anything.

Surprised that all opposing fans are getting moved up top. I always thought there was some sort of Big Ten rule in place that required each school to seat some of the visitors in the lower level to keep schools like UM, OSU, and PSU from throwing everyone way up top. I know all of those schools still do sit most up there, but have some closer to field as well.

Didn't we have a Family Plan for tickets a few years ago? I've noticed several BCS schools out here (east coast) have a Family Four Pack priced for their non-conference and one premium games. Usually amounts to four games and includes a vendor coupons for a soft drink and hot dog. Depending on the school prices run $99 to $150 for the four tickets and concessions. I think this might be something to look into to encourage attendance. I think seating priorities wouldn't be hurt for this type of discount and could "convert" into future ticket holders. Make it a limited offer, only 1000 available (4,000 seats)? Promotes the family atmosphere, kinda in-line with Beckman's goals.
By the way, I think the season ticket prices are pretty good as announced, just trying to increase the interest. |

I would move the opponents to the top of the North endzone, make the lower part of the north endzone General Admission and move the students to section 109.
The students would be somewhat on the sidelines and closer to the scoreboard and the loud music they enjoy. (And with the students closer to the scoreboard maybe they could even turn the volume down so that it no longer hurts your ears). And put the band back in the stands also!!!! |

Given how obnoxious the average tOSU visitor is, they should seat them in the Assembly Hall during football games. For other teams, I don't care much.

Illinois is promoting the $99 horseshoe season tickets now on radio ads in Champaign-Urbana (not sure the total coverage of these ads), however those tickets aren't available for sale until May 15th for new season ticket holders. (Only the sideline season tickets are available now for purchase.)
A caller complained to Mike Thomas on the April 21st Saturday Sportsline 48:10 mark about hearing the ad, calling the ticket office, then being told to try back on May 15th. Just now I heard the ad on WDWS. Brian Barnhart at the end says (paraphrasing), "..and due to demand, we've just opened up [new/more?] $99 season tickets in the horseshoe." Poor execution..not sure why Illinois would mislead & piss off potential new season ticket buyers? Last edited by Dan; May 2, 2012 at 10:09 AM. |

Any idea if part of 109 will be available to new season ticket holders on May 15? Wanting to get 2 season tickets this year and this is the section I'd much rather prefer to the horseshoe (obviously)

Maybe it's the old bait and switch--get people to call in and then talk them up to sideline seats?? Maybe they just threw anything into that ad because the time was already paid for and they had to run something. I gave up my 2 horseshoe seats this year so I could try for 109. If that doesn't work I'll try the streets for any games I go to. |
