What are everyone's thoughts on the Cox for Mujica (or however you spell it, Scrabble part II) trade? Not sure how I feel about it. Cox was in our top 5 prospect wise coming into this year but has struggled at AAA Memphis, so I believe it was good to trade him while he still had value. But I also think that we could have gotten more for him than a RP with a 4.38 ERA. He has good numbers vs righties though, we'll see how it works!

Cox was blocked by Freese anyways. Think we could have gotten something more though.

Exactly my thoughts

not only by Freese but by Wong as well if Cox were to slide to 2B. Mujica will be a nice 7th inning guy who i think will be a better fit in St. Louis than he was in Miami. He's a groundball guy.

Like everyone else I would have liked it if they had gotten more for him. I am sure they tried. Keep in mind he is AAA and he is struggling a bit so he does not have top shelf value.
Quote:
The cost for Mujica was Cox, the 25th overall pick in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft. Cox's stock has fallen as he's climbed through the Minors, and he was not considered an above-average defender at his natural position -- third base. In 84 games with Triple-A Memphis this season, Cox hit .254 with a .294 on-base percentage.

With David Freese expected to be the Cardinals' third base for the foreseeable future, Cox was seen as an expendable piece in St. Louis' system. He entered 2012 ranked by MLB.com as the sixth-best prospect in the organization.

Will Cincinnati ever lose? I feel like they're playing their best baseball right now, just like the Brewers last season. We just need to keep taking care of ourselves by winning and the others will take care of their selves.

Way to jinx it! Realistically, I would rather have the Pirates lose than Cincy. It is going to be tough to catch up to the Reds, especially when they get Votto back.

right. I fail to see why a team who's primary color is red and stresses to their fans to wear red would ever want to wear blue. I don't even want them to wear their dark blue hats on the road.

Agree, with the unattractiveness of the light blue informs. I don't mind the dark blue hats on the road, though -- I think they go a little better with the grey uniforms.

yes it is color coordinated. That is not the issue. My complain is blue is not a primary color. If they want to use a little blue as trim somewhere as a 3rd color i wouldn't care. not as a prime color.

I think he was saying that he liked the uniforms and that they were sick (in a good way), which I actually agree with. Something about them, just looks awesome to me.

I was responding to the "issue" you yourself raised about the blue hats on the road (which at one time they also wore at home). While recognizing the "primary" color of the Cardinals is red, I still think the blue hats go better with the grey road uniforms. The hat I don't like is the one with the Cardinal and bat on the front of it. I much prefer the all red hats at home.

Walt Jocketty is incredible isn't he? Mozeliak has been good but we let a great one to to move on. Why did he have to end up inside the division?

Walt was great, but I didn't quite like the trajectory he had us set on. I'm glad we're focusing on building up the farm system and mixing them in with veteran guys.

Yeah, Jockety was good, but he let the farm system deteriorate. I understand that at one time Memphis wanted to get out of its affiliation with the Cardinals because of that.

Reds finally losing a couple of games. 6 games out of first, 2 1/2 out of wild card! Let's go Cardinals!

Could it be? Could it be possible that maybe, just maybe the Cards are finally putting their act together?

We're playing some good ball right now, hope we can keep it up! If we're leading the Wild Card and 3 out of the division by the end of the month, i'll be one happy camper. Go Cards!

Tyler Greene has been traded to the Houston Astros for a player to be named later and/or cash considerations. Been waiting on this to happen, it's such a shame he didn't pan out he has such potential, just couldn't put it together in the majors. Good luck to Tyler in Houston!
