No, he is related to Shannon Brown, who played with Dee in high school.

They might refer to each other as "Cuz", but I think that's as close as they'd get.

I wonder if that would hurt our chances with him? (Higher profile = more big name program appeal)
Hopefully, we'll already have him signed well in advance of that anyway!

From what I have read, Tyler really handles the ball well and plays hard with a good basketball IQ. I would love to watch him play for Illinois if he gets an offer.
I get what you're saying, but they get a lot of information straight from the source.
If Ulis is not considered a John Groce style PG because of his size and his pass-first mentality, that would be a shame.
Hopefully he'll get an offer soon and we can end all of this speculation and guessing as to the coaches' opinions of him and how he would fit in.

I know I have read on other boards that they were cousins and I think DEE tweeted something about the offer today

Well, he led the team in rebounds per minute played I believe...and although not an adept defender, he did play hard on the defensive end in his very limited minutes on the court.

So with that in mind, what message was sent to Shaw???
I think this can't be overstated --the previous coaching staff lost control of the team.

A talented class will get a fresh start with Groce, and I'm eager to see what he can do with them. I'm not convinced we'll see much change from BP3 or DJ, but with minutes being spread deeper, it should be exciting to watch Groce install his system and acquire the talent to run it well over the next few seasons.

Most freshmen struggle. Neither Richmond or Leonard deserved any more minutes than they received. I didn't see anything from Shaw that suggested he was shorted on minutes. If you want to keep telling yourself there was a coach-wide conspiracy against giving more playing time to freshmen, feel free. Most coaches will give more minutes to more experienced players. They typically make less mistakes (mistakes that lead to easy baskets for the opponent).

Not that it is really that big of a deal but XRM is releasing his top 10 tomorrow. I would think UI will be on it.

Shannon and Dee are not related so Sterling would not be related to Dee either. Dee and Shannon often joke about it, though.

Now the offers are starting to roll from the coaching staff. I expect more to come as they offer and wait for kids to commit.

You've really stretched this beyond the breaking point. My comment is not about deluding myself on freshman as you say, it's about the difference a team in disarray can have on a player's attitude and motivation.

I do not to care to argue something that's obvious to me and the majority of posters, but feel free to put words in my mouth if it makes you feel better.
