good for them
I will say that when we did a 3 hour quickie campus tour there for my son 2 years ago, a drive by their stadium showed me a place that looked like it belonged in the MAC. Their current configuration is not real sharp, its rather low rent. |

First thought was: 200 million dollar renovation and they're still gonna have that awkward hill with the ugly "M"?

Having attended several games there, they really need to get rid of the grass hill with the M. Old tradition, but the current students couldnt care less. They need to throw in more seats and make the stadium look good.

I am never gonna hear the end of this from my cousin and uncle. This may be a stupid idea but in the near future, after Beckman gets Illinois rolling, we should have a home-and-home with Mizzou and beat the tar out of them.
We need to get a plan together for MS's future, give me your ideas and I can CAD up some models. GO ILLINI! BEAT THE TIGERS! |

With this move to the SEC, it looks like Mizzou has hit the big time. I think the hill is great... as long as I'm not paying for it and it isn't taking up space in Memorial Stadium! |

Mizzou needs more gifts like that $30 million if they hope to survive in the SEC. They are near the bottom of the pack in athletic donations in their new conference...

Mizzou's stadium renovation
Sad that I am actually jealous of their rennovations. 100,000 people in Phase 5?
So glad we are reducing the # we can hold in Memorial. http://mizzou2sec.com/stadium_expansion.php#phase1 |

Until we can consistently fill Memorial Stadium at 60,000 we shouldn't even worry ourselves about this. |

If the SEC can bring in all those fans, Vandy should be adding lots of seating soon.

Here's the press release from Mizzou on June 26, 2012. That plan for Mizzou's football stadium is an east side expansion, addition of ~9,000 seats which will boost capacity of Faurot Field to 80,000 by 2015. http://www.mutigers.com/genrel/062612aaa.html Last edited by Dan; Sep 4, 2012 at 04:27 PM. |

The way Mizzou is constantly trying to upgrade to fit in with the SEC reminds me of a frat boy who is rushing a notorious fraternity and changing who he is to get in when a different frat, not so notorious, would take him for who he is.
A little dramatic, but needless to say, I hope they get their butts kicked. __________________ ILLINI BEARS CUBS BULLS BLACKHAWKS Class of 2016 ![]() |

Did anyone read? They were done by an Alabama fan and are not official plans - partially modeled after B-D Field.

I dunno, I like the hill. If they sold "hill" seating --maybe had a few sections dividing it up, got rid of the raised M and painted the logo on the hill like they do the grid lines on the field, I think it could be a great. Might be a good way to manage ticket prices for small-market games, too.

Having been to Faurot many times myself, the main problem I see for them is parking. It outright sucks to park to go to a game there! I have had to park more than a mile way & walk up just to get to the stadium. I agree that they need to lose the M in the endzone. If I was them, I would bowl both ends of the stadium in & make that a very loud place to play a football game. They would have to find a place to put the scoreboard but it could be done. The other thing that Mizzou needs are better fans. Never have I seen a fanbase that gives up on their team quicker than Mizzou. I went to the Oklahoma State-Mizzou game last year & the fans got up and started leaving when OSU got out to a 10 point lead early in the 4th quarter.
