saw this on another message board and it generated some interesting (and at times very heated) debate.

Who is, in your opinion, the best option/running/dual threat QB in the history of college football?

Eric Crouch
Pat White
Mike Vick

Can't go wrong with any of those guys. My top five would be:

1. Vince Young
2. Tommie Frazier
3. Tim Tebow
4. Eric Crouch
5. Pat White

Lots of great names there. Does anyone think Kordell Stewart fits on the list?

The best AT running the option was probably Tommie Frazier, but the biggest threat with his legs was Michael Vick and it's not even close. You can count on one hand the type of physical talents like Vick that have been seen in the game of football. Barry Sanders. Lawrence Taylor. Deion Sanders. Kurt Kittner.

Too bad Vick pissed away his prime. Imagine if he had a real work ethic instead of murdering and torturing dogs all summer

Vince Young is right up there with Vick. He absolutely destroyed a very good USC defense with his legs in the national championship game.

I don't think work ethic was the issue. I just think he never really found the right coaching (in both a football and a life sense) until it was too late.

Even at less than he could have been, he was a sight to behold though.

I think its Vince Young or Tommy Frazier. Tebow and Vick are in the equation. The exciting part about thes QB's is they have shown the tremendous impact a special type of dual threat can have. Aaron Bailey is potentially one of those types.

That to me was one of the most impressive performances ever.

Frazier was by far the best I've seen as an option QB.

But man, most of us must be too young. Look at these lists. There has to have been an old guy who was equally dominant.

That was the game that got me hooked on college football. I'm sure it would've happened eventually anyway, but that game helped speed up the process.

It is hard to argue with Pat White. He put up amazing numbers. Ditto Vince Young.

Antwaan Randle El - look at the stats he compiled playing for one of the worst teams in the country. The guy was ridiculous.

Michael Vick - never had a run season as good as Randle El's worst season.

Stewart had a gun for an arm. Athletic, but wasn't predominantly a runner.

Here's a darkhorse for you. Armanti Edwards of Appalachian State

Stats are toward the bottom of the page, but he rushed for 4,361 yards in his career including a 5.8 yard per carry average. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armanti_Edwards)

I watched the 30 for 30 on SMU from back in the early 80's and the video of their QB was amazing. I am not for sure on his name, but he was very good. There were several people that claimed in that show that he would/should be talked about in a discussion like this.

It was before my prime of watching football, but found it interesting to say the least.

No kidding. Only a matter of time before ThaKid tells us how he got robbed of the heisman.

LOL... It's coming.

Nevermind. He already posted and no mention of Juice...but there is a mention of Aaron Bailey before he has ever played a collegiate game.

Yeah I mean minus the Michigan, USC, Iowa, and Missouri games, he practically had an undefeated season

I know the competition was better, but Edwards passed for nearly 2500 yards more and rushed for another 800 or so. Edwards just put up some gaudy numbers, and yet most people forgot he was the guy that beat Michigan almost single-handedly

Oh and I'm guessing we all hate Michigan enough to not include Denard in this conversation? Just making sure we're all on the same page. (Honestly, Robinson's passing is horrendous, so I don't know he belongs in the picture anyway).

Randle El hands down because of how terrible Indiana was at that time. I remember his beating Illinois by himself one year. Pat White would probably be #2 on my list.
