Last year against Indiana. First play of the game a little over 9 months ago. 10-8-11

Joe Brennan appears to be the favorite to be starting at QB but Wisconsin just got Danny O'Brien as a transfer from Maryland. Two other possibilities for QB (Jon Budmayr and Bart Houston are out for 2012 with both having recent surgeries).

No worries, I was letting you know. And I wouldn't say they were good. They were average. They only gave up the one TD which is nice, but about half the teams we played improved their average KR yards against us.(meaning their overall average KR yards for the season was lower than their KR yards when they played us)
2 teams got no returns at all and 4 teams declined and went below their season average. So for 4 out of 12 games (technically only 10 games) our coverage team did well and 6 out of 12 they did below average to poor. I also attribute our successes (the games with no returns at all or we did well) to having an all star future NFL kicker. For us to be better, we need to mimic Dimke with Frain and also improve on our coverage. Both of these CAN be done considering we have Tim Salem as the ST coordinator but I will hold my breath until the first kickoff this year. __________________ _|_ --X-X-(_)-X-X-- /...........|...........\ /.............|.............\ /...............|...............\ |

I don't remember our coverage being particularly bad either. The awful special teams stats were mostly due to the complete lack of a kick/punt return game. I mean, we were lucky to get a positive number of yards on any return last year.

I agree and even with the loss of Dimke I think our ST will be better, not great but better coached.

Another problem with the special teams last year was how many times we didn't even get a punt off. Does that factor into return coverage?

My prediction (not that it matters) 9-3 or better for 2012-13 season.
As a 1979 grad, I went through a couple of 0-11 (IIRC) FB seasons - attended every game though (Michigan had a refund policy then = so we returned their coach. ) (Heck, was at the game when we beat MSU for the #1 spot in BB - only to slide from there because we lost our only PG. Well, such is life.) Seems to me we are returning to a cleaner version of the White era In MT I trust. Quality + consistency. Flying Illini!!!!! FB + BB. I feel really good about this team though. This is the most experienced UI team in a while with a lot of seniors, RS juniors, juniors, and even RS sophs, etc. who have played. They also have some extremely talented freshmen on campus (And coming in next year). With a big year like 9-3 and a bowl win, I think this current class goes to another level (Like top 8-12), and then sets up what could be an even better 2014 class. I'm sorry but we are going to be better then that. Our Schedule for one thing looks pretty easy except for the 3 big road games.

The media may want to rethink this now with the sanctions.

The death of a program? Stopping short of disbanding the program can PSU survive the next decade. What will the BIG do, would they kick them out, sounds harsh, but they fooled and embarressed a lot of people.

I would think Wiscy fans could book their ticket to the championship game now.
tOSU - not eligible PSU - not eligible that leaves, Pudue, Indiana, and us as the only competitors. Wiscy won as many conference games last year as THE ENTIRE ELIGIBLE DIVISION did last year. How bizarre is that? |

Of course. And those reasons are often apparent before the season to almost anyone but you. Last edited by orangekrush117; Jul 24, 2012 at 07:06 PM. |

I'm in between you two. I don't think it's going to be a clear run-away in the Badger's favor, but I don't think the Illini will be going to Indy. It may be competitive, but Wiscy will win the division.
