Eastern Illinois University is doing a speaker series to help fund an autism resource center at the university. The resource center will aid schools in early diagnosis and provide help with students. On September 27, Dr. Temple Grandin will speak at Dvorak Concert Hall in Charleston followed by Dr. Patricia Prelock at Dvorak Lecture Hall on September 28. Dr. Grandin, a graduate of the UofI, will speak to the joy of finding success while overcoming the challenges of autism. I believe Dr. Prelock has a similar experience although I am not as familiar with her.

Tickets for each event are available and proceeds will go to support the Autism Center. Currently funds are being raised to support the costs of the speakers.

If you would like to help sponsor the event, several sponsorship levels are available between $500 and $1,500. Also, don't forget the tickets to hear these inspirational women. For more information you can go to www.eiu.edu/commdis/. Thanks for anything you can do to help people affected by this disorder.
