I know the poll doesn't really matter, but how do 5-7 Texas Tech and 5-7 Central Florida get votes?

Impressive, there are 2 schools from the BIG that are barred from getting votes. Despite that, you have 4 teams in the rankings.

You have to wonder if all of the "Illini is being a vulture by recruiting Penn State players" nonsense had anything to do with it. Teams like USC, Oklahoma,... are going to get their votes no matter what, but Illinois has a new head coach that ruffled a few feathers.

It also could boil down to the fact that Illinois does have a new head coach and lost some impressive talent to the draft.

Anyway, regardless of why I just hope we prove them all wrong.

thats fine done rank us....lets just go out and win ball games and rankings will come.....anyone can argue why a team should be or shouldn't be ranked before the season...but if a team keeps winning ball games they are due noterietiy

I can't really imagine a scenario where a 7-6 team with a bunch of noticeable losses, a new coaching staff (who are all pretty much moving up a level) and no superstar upgrades in talent would be getting preseason love. Win games, the rankings will come.

is it just me, or do other people just yearn for the day when we get national respect and get included in the pre season top 20.

it just kills me that Wiscy , and not us, has achieved this.
