Rob McColley investigates to see if Bruce Weber's direct and indirect statements could disqualify him from receiving his $3.9M Illinois buyout. Also looks into Weber's NCAA violations while at UI. New articles in the series released daily this week!

I apologize for being obtuse, but what statements are those?

Thank you. I didn't click, because the highlighted part in the original post focused more on the actual contract, which didn't interest me and seemed rather routine/mundane. I stupidly didn't consider that the statements would be there too (to me, the statements are more intriguing).

Dan, I don't mean to step on toes, because I respect the solid work you do here, but this makes McColley (and any supporters) sound even more bitter than Weber. Why open old wounds when everyone has moved on? Weber is in a better place and Illini basketball is in a better place. I guess I don't understand why people have so much hatred for the guy.

I happen to like the raw footage that Rob provides.
However, this investigation does seem a bit like sour grapes. I'm sure that if there was any way that the University could have got themselves out of paying a $4M severance package, their lawyers would have been all over it. Or, maybe they are and it's just coming to light. Either way, I'm not really concerned with it. |

Just another reason why I don't read McColley or listen to any of his creepy interviews. Not to mention, who wants to dwell in the past? Weber is gone. Let it go.

Not sure what McColley's point is in doing this is. I suppose that if he wants notoriety, this will do it. However, it may not be such a good thing for him in this case. I think the majority of people just want to move on and hold no ill will toward Weber. Drumming up negative attention most likely will backfire on McColley and alienate even more people toward him.

Well, it's nice to know that the first article in the series is an article which tells us that there will be more articles. Zero original content in that piece of work. McColley is trolling with this (lack of) effort. |

Curiosity killed the cat, but not me. I want to know what violations occurred, whether minor or major.
I'm not a fan of this "journalist" but he is expressing his Freedom of Press. It would be nice if the NCAA & participating schools would make all violations above board, so recruits, recruits family, media, fans, etc. know what is going on. It would be a start to rid the corruption I believe. __________________ ![]() |

I'm not following the logic of "Bruce Weber made the university look bad, which made me angry, which means I'll now attempt to make both Bruce Weber AND the university look bad."
Bruce's post-firing comments/fairy tale STILL bother me, but as has been stated, if there was any chance that voided his buyout, I'm thinking the university's legal team would be all over it. |

MCCOLLEY IS A JACKASS!!!! Won't EVER read anything with his name on the by-line. Weber was nothing but class during his 9 years here. Did he have the consistent success we were all looking for? No! But he is a class guy. McColley? JACKASS!!! End of story!!

Does McColley even have the clout to "conduct" an investigation that would be taken seriously by anyone that matters? Or is this just trolling for page hits?

Hopefully McColley will look in the mirror because he's the last person who should be accusing people of lacking credibility and integrity. His interviews with recruits and players are an embarrassment and should not be allowed. It's sad that his "job" allows him to have a press pass.

Regardless of any legal standing we would have to sue for repayment of the buyout, there's NO WAY the university would go after this. The incredibly bad PR from such a suit would far outweigh the financial gain of recovering a few million $.
I mean, can you imagine ESPN and St. Izzo getting hold of this story ![]()

I thought that McColley identified himself as an attorney or at least someone who aspires to be an attorney, therefore clout. His obsession with Weber is not something anyone needs to worry or read about.

Dude is a D'Bag and his obsession with Weber is borderline Stalker like. Did one of Weber's daughters stand the guy up or something?

McColley is awesome. One of the best posters on some of the other forums. 100% credibility.
