2017 Elite BB Tournament

MSU AD Hollis has put together an elite BB tournament to commemorate Phil Knight's 80th birthday.

16 Colleges sponsored by Nike to take part. Only 2 teams from each elite conference. I think that is why Illinois is not a part of it. OSU and MSU from the Big Ten.

Hollis said there is also discussion of having eight other teams that are Nike-sponsored to come to play games as well, but not against this field.

I dont want us to go and be in the second tier.

Wow some elite teams on that list. Does that mean Addidas will create there tournament for their sponsor schools?

We weren't invited because of other reasons. I read the article on espn before it was posted here and the reason we weren't invited is because MSU and tOSU are already in and you can't play a team from your conference in a tournament. That is why its a two bracket tournament, so no team plays a team from their conference, also there are no conferences with more than 2 schools invited to the field.

We definitely have more draw than many of the teams in the field, but if you can only have 2 teams from the B1G... Needless to say we didn't make the cut.
