Anyone besides me watching the golf playoffs?
Watching the first day at the Barclays, at Bethpage Black on Long Island. Good weather, not like at the '09 Open and these guys are just killing it. I know its nuts, but I like Snedeker, he plays smoothly and quickly and I just love that. My pick to win it all . . . Stricker . . . nah, just kidding . . . gotta go with Rory. |

Ha ha, well, by the number of replies (0) and views (just over 100), I can see that I am nearly the only one watching the Fedex. Oh well, that's ok, I had a great time. And my guy Snedeker had a very nice tournament, finishing 2nd.
On to the next one |

I'll be marshaling the 15th hole at Crooked Stick for the BMW next week. Some Tiger profanities coming soon.

I will be curious to hear how much you enjoy that. I have an opportunity to work at the US Open (Pinehurst) next summer and haven't absolutely committed yet. Let me know, would you, just how much fun you have with that.

I've been watching, tough to get too excited about the cut from 125 to 100, though. Watney certainly picked a good time to start playing to his capabilities. A lot of people thinking Bradley will have a good showing this weekend out here at the Deutsche Bank.

Will do. Have four shifts Tuesday thru Friday. Have other tickets for the weekend with family and friends but might be tired of whole thing by Friday. We'll see how it goes.

I'm a little surprised by the way that they score these events. During the regular season, if I have this right, a win is 500 points. But for a major, the win is worth 50% more, 750. But then you go to the Barclays, no better field than a major for sure and the win is worth 2,500 points. Seriously? doesn't that seem just a bit high? I would have suggested 2 x for Barclays, 3 x for the next one, 4 and then 5 for the final week in Atlanta. Just a thought for Fedex and the Tour. |

They've had to tweak the points in the past, balancing act between rewarding good play during the season and making sure the winner is still in doubt before the Tour Championship. One thing they still need to figure out is allowing a player to skip one of the playoff events and not being penalized (i.e. Duffner).

Then some of them started skipping a week anyway. So, evidently that wasn't enough. At least not for everyone. The interesting question is why can other sports play on for weeks and months on end, but golfers cannot? Do you think that the NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA don't just laugh their fannies off at these professional athletes who can't play a non-contact sport for a month, with 3 days a week off? I don't think I would make any scoring concessions beyond what they have already done with the 1st off week in the middle. That seems sufficient for a chance at $10 million . . . |

Lucky for the Tour that this week's tournament isn't at Crooked Stick. They wouldn't get it done until Wednesday. Hopefully Boston gets none of Isaac. Didn't they get clobbered just a year or two ago?

Yeah, Irene came through here just about a year ago, I was without power for about 3 days. It's possible we'll get some remnants of Isaac, but no rain in the forecast for the next 6 days at this point.

After 1 day of the Deutsche Bank, these guys are KILLING this course. Leaders at 7 & 8 under par. So many close shots. Very impressive.

Kind of ugly finish there, Rory chunking tee shots, Tiger missing putts and Louie missing some opportunities to close in. Nice to see DA and Strick doing well, both moving on to the BMW next week.
Ryder Cup picks tomorrow, I'm guessing Stricker's a lock along with Snedecker. I expect Furyk and DJ to get the last 2 spots. |

Allrighty then, my guy Snedeker makes the Ryder Cup team and our ex-Illini star Stricker goes along (as expected) as well. Very happy with those choices.

Day two marshaling on 15th tee. Graham McDowell and Lee Westwood were the friendliest, most engaging of all the pros that came through. Westwood signed every kids autograph request that asked. Just a class acts. Ernie Els also was very accomodating to the kids requests.

Notes from #15 @ Crooked Stick
Little more serious today. I guess it's that 10 million payday in two weeks. Saw Rickie Fowler drain a 50 ft eagle putt and Furyk stub two chips for a bogey. Moving tee times up three hours tomorrow in anticipation of afternoon storms. BTW, Tiger is not the only pro that lets loose with a few choice words on the course. He's just the one with the most microphones around.
