Congrats to the #Illini on their 3.11 team grade-point average during the summer. 10 players enrolled in summer school topped 3.0 GPA.

4 #Illini had perfect 4.0s during the summer, Joe Bertrand @illini_ibby23 @B1G_Samb0 & @SamManiscalco, who also finished his master's degree

Brandon Paul offered his thoughts campus pedestrian/vehicle safety-
Quote:
1st of all, to all pedestrians of Champaign, more importantly, the ones on campus. You are NOT indestructible..

The law says pedestrians have the right away, but if you cross w.o looking or at random times (not at crosswalks) you will be hit right away

At some point, all the kids that walk to class decided that they are Hancock and that getting hit my cars won't hurt them, it's unbelievable

Then there are those bikers that are just completely reckless...first off, there are places to ride your bike...you know, bike lanes/paths

After bike accidents they get mad at the other person..for what? Bc they were just as reckless as you!? Relax, ur not Lance Armstrong

All the kids with longboards....wow, I'm almost at a loss of words...you guys are unreal, flying through the streets at dangerous speeds

These long boarders decided to buy 1 bc they thought it would be an efficient way to get to class..well it's an efficient way to bust ur ...

kids came to college n wanted to become Tony Hawk..y'all need to take it easy...that goes for you too Lil Wayne...its NOT that serious

Pedestrians are sneaky too..walking on the sidewalk & then all of a sudden break left n end up in front of your car..then give u a wth look

I think I saw a kid going to class practicing his parkour stunts...like on moving cars and one kids moped..then hopped on the mtd, literally

It's gotten to the point to kids no longer get hit by cars, cars get hit by kids

Lol nah just these pedestrians are so foolish RT @SamanthaHare4: @BP3 my gosh did u hit someone with your car?!? You are going in!

Then you got those pedestrians that enjoy standing 2 yards off the curb so you have to slowly maneuver around to avoid clipping them

Hate=strong word, I dislike the choices they make on a consistent basisRT @djdubblestuffed: @BP3 no one hates pedestrians as much as you do

Then, he terrorized the Quad-

BP is right about the pedestrians. I dont know if it was function of kids feeling young and invincible, or that many of the students came from suburban areas without much local car traffic, but when I was there 02-06, it seemed as if at least 1 student per yr was killed by a vehicle.

There were numerous instances of kids darting in front of cars from spots where the driver won't be able to react.

I was there 05-09. After the MTD accident when the girl died, there wasn't anything until after I left campus.

20-somethings just tend to be careless.

IIRC, another girl got killed by a car on 4th during Unofficial, there was a rash of accidents like that for a few years.

I hated driving on campus sometimes, such a cluster.

But I did love dropping off one of my roommates for class, then just laying on the horn while waving and yelling her name as she walked into class embarrassed as hell. That was fun!

Totally not worth it. I took the longest ways home from the mall (work) just to make sure I wouldn't have to deal with pedestrians. Also had a friend who, the second day she had her brand new Harley on campus, had to lay it down in the middle of Sixth because some airhead just jaywalked in front of her. She was livid.

So, needless to say, I feel BP3 on this.

Wow I completely forgot about One World. And ive only been off campus a year and a half. They're pizza was meh, but the breadsticks were the entrees of the gods. If you still deliver, maybe you can bring an order of breadsticks down to Tampa for me.

Haha no I graduated in 2011. I worked there mostly to bypass the late night line for the aforementioned breadsticks.

You can't fault her for having bad judgement. College students definitely don't need brand new Harleys.

Yeah, he's great with the written word. And spells very well, too.
He should really consider going pro in something other than sports (after his NBA career, of course).

It was a gift from her dad, who wouldn't let her buy anything else. Bikes are also a lot more fuel efficient than cars. It made sense for her, and she wasn't an idiot on it. It is what it is.
