As soon as I saw your tweet I knew this is what you had to be talking about. And people say they didn't see improvement last week

Now, for something positive. Illini football fun fact!-

It's possible for Illinois to finish 2-6 in the B1G, 4-8 overall, and advance to the Big Ten Championship Game on 12/01/12.

A few things need to happen:

Wisconsin loses the rest of their games to finish 1-7.

Purdue beats Wisconsin, loses the rest to finish 1-7.

Indiana beats Wisconsin & Purdue, loses the rest to finish 2-6.

Illinois beats Indiana & Purdue to finish 2-6.

Ohio State or Penn State would win the Leaders Division (yes, they can still win the division even though they're bowl ineligible).

Illinois (2-6,4-8) would be the Leaders Division representative in the B1G title game over Indiana (2-6,4-8), via the Illini's head-to-head Homecoming win over the Hoosiers.

It's still okay to dream, right?

But seriously, if Wisconsin finishes 3-3 -- beating Purdue, Minnesota, Indiana -- Badgers (7-5,4-4) are one game away from the Rose Bowl.

Badgers win at Purdue this weekend, 85% they are in the B1G title game.

Wisconsin's win over Illinois remains the only B1G league win for a Leaders Division bowl eligible team. It's great to be a Badger.

The only thing more perfect would be if the Illini/Hoosier game was 7pm BTN on the last week of the season. Winner take all!

Then the 4-8 Illini win the B1G championship and go to the Rose Bowl as a 5-8 team. Is that even possible? Would they have to get a waiver to play in the Rose Bowl?

If people thought the Kraft Bowl was bad, what about a 5-8 Illini team against Oregon? The Ducks might score 80 points if they wanted to

Tim Beckman might not be making friends here with a lot people, (give him time folks) but at least no Illinois fans are doing things like this:

UGA QB Murray's house vandalized

Quote:
The diehard Georgia football fans will fill Sanford Stadium every Saturday to root on the Dawgs, and will go to extraordinary lengths to display their passion. That fiery passion turned on quarterback Aaron Murray and linebacker Christian Robinson on Saturday, when they returned to Athens to find their house egged and rolled with toilet paper.

The scary thing is that this is a completely realistic scenario, given Wisconsin's weakness this year.

I think they'd have to get a waiver from the NCAA at that point, since they'd have a losing record. A waiver that the NCAA probably wouldn't approve, given the horrendous record and the unlikelihood of Illinois fans travelling to that game knowing that they're about to get destroyed.

While Dan's scenario is possible. The other possibility is us beating IU, Minny, Purdue and NW and making a bowl game. I'm not saying it will happen BUT it is possible. As Lloyd Christmas said in Dumb and Dumber..."so you're sayin' there's a chance!"

I just looked over at my schedule poster and said to myself, you know what, maybe the better play will continue going forward and if we keep improving, winning the home games and at NU could be possible.

Do it.

I hadn't even thought of it till Bob A. brought it up in his chat over at IlliniHQ. But with the home games...it is actually possible if can get somewhat healthy.
