Klachko transferred from Nebraska to Illinois back in August.

The mojo just isn't real positive around this program right now.

Too bad for Ryan.

Wow. I'm sort of assuming this has been a longer term, problem, right? Any medical specialists in this area?

Pardon my personal question....has this been a lingering thing that just wouldn't go away or did he sustain another one (or more) after the transfer? Hopes and prayers are with him and pray there is nothing long term!

Tough break for him. Got to be a very difficult decision to make. But brave.

I saw this ESPN E:60 story earlier in the week on UCLA linebacker Patrick Larimore and his decision to give up football in August for the same reasons. Gives good context to the emotions that go into making the call.

Sustained a bad one, in late August. Really bad. That was number one. Came back to practice in mid-September, took a hit, thought he was OK, but the trainers kept their eyes on him. I guess they saw something that made them think is had a mild concussion. Number two. Came back to practice last Tuesday. Had a great practice, came off the field giddy with excitement. Woke up on Wednesday with a migrane headache. Doctor made the call - number three, it's over.

Thanks for the prayers. We hope it's nothing long-lasting. But the dream is dead, and he is having a hard time with it.

Wow, so sorry to hear that Spin. Thoughts and prayers are with him for his continued recovery, and adjustment away from football.

Wow, that is really too bad for him.

I am glad to hear that the coaches and doctors are now taking concussions very seriously.

As far as Ryan goes. Good luck to him. I hope he has a successful happy life.

From my selfish Illini fan viewpoint- "Make it stop"

So sorry, but glad they're being aggressive with it . That SI story with McMahon was scary

Yeah concussions are something you don't want to mess around with. I'm sure he's going to hate not being on the field, but his health has to come first.

Good luck to Ryan and I wish him a full recovery.

Makes you remember there are bigger things in this world than football.

Wow. What a loss. He had the potential to develop into a fine member of the OL. I hope he can make a full recovery. On a side note, why is Illini football so unlucky?

Piss off entire B1G by "taking" their players... don't get to benefit at all from it.. thus is the life of an Illini fan

ummmmmm. And this is what we got to show for it. I want my soul back. Yes, things appear better, but not worth my soul yet.
