Michigan at No. 5 is overrated IMO.

B1G with 3 of the top 5! That's SEC Football status right there.

NC State was picked by some to win the ACC outright this year. I know very little about them, to be honest.

VCU is going to be scary good this year imo. They almost beat Indiana last year until Indiana stormed back in the final 2 minutes of the game in the tourney.

especially if the refs don't swallow the whistle on their foul every defensive possession havoc. mentality. in that indiana game they got a very beneficial flagrant when that guy got "elbowed" in the face due to the stupid NCAA notion that a offensive player has no personal space. I think they and Butler could be in for real surprise in the talent step up night in and night out they will face. |

Their overall record may suffer this year, but they will be more battle tested come tournament time. They play a much stronger schedule this year. It will be interesting to see how they perform this year and if they do well, what Shaka Smart does in the off season.
But I am really glad we have Groce, and really glad we can concentrate on recruiting moving forward without having to worry about any of that stuff. |

I've followed the CAA for a few years now and sure there are some weak teams in there, but George Mason, Old Dominion, and Drexel can all play ball.
The thing with VCU this year is that they can go 9 deep and consistently get after you with their pressure. Some may say that it's fouling, which it might be, but VCU will keep coming after you until the refs swallow their whistles and stop calling the ticky-tack fouls. Also, VCU has a legit 7 foot center and 6'9 PF that can both bang down low and pressure. Plus, they have Briante Weber who WILL be defensive player of the year if he sees more then 20+ minutes a game. He will consistently being in the opposing team's PG's face the entire night and attack him with insane quickness. I'm looking forward to watching VCU and Drexel this year, along with

also VCU won't benefit from the conference tournament being played on their home court / in their backyard. I think they are pegged as #3 in the A-10 behind SLU / St Joes. Also it will be interesting to see how long the Hurleys stick around there if they are successful. They got some top 100 talent to RI. |

I will be EXTREMELY surprised if Indiana finishes the year where they started. Nice team, but not the best in the country.

They were coming on strong at the end of last year and gave Kansas trouble in the tourney. They lost their best player to the NBA but had 3 other good players returning with a really good recruiting class playing as Freshmen this year. They will be a good team. |

They did? Maybe a brainfart, but I don't recall anyone from NCSt being drafted, and thought CJ Leslie was their best player (who is returning).

It was nice to see a poll without Obama/Romney, but then I saw Indiana at the top

No not really. You have to actually win a championship to be on that level. The B1G hasn't won a title in over a decade. It's nice to see the conference getting back to a high level but the conference needs some championships to brag about.

I agree I don't think they are either. Outside of that UK game and Ohio St even though they were having some issues they didn't have very many elite level wins. They had some bad losses Minny, Nebraska, Iowa too. They are returning everyone and have a top 10 class. I think they will need a good draw in the tourney to make a deep run. Meaning they need one of those Duke special's from the committee. Something about IU just seems missing to me. It's either the guard play or their coach that I'm not sold on.

It's odd to not see UCONN in the poll.
