Good afternoon and welcome to another Illinois basketball chat. This is my first one and I'm looking forward to getting more acquainted with the beat and giving you guys the best information I can. I've got some big shoes to fill. You guys were lucky to have Paul Klee for six-plus seasons. He's one of the best in the business.

Illinois senior guard Brandon Paul on Wednesday was named one of 30 candidates for the Lowes Senior CLASS Award. The list will be cut to 10 midway through the season. The winner will be announced at the Final Four.

To be a candidate for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence — community, classroom, character and competition.
