At least we only lost by three. That's progress in Tim Beckman's program.

Everything that can be said has been said. Thankfully there's just one game left before this disaster of a season is over.

Justin Staples should be told he won't be dressing after that pathetic effort he gave on PU's last TD on SR. day. What a complete joke of an "effort" and it sums up Staples' season this year. I don't usually criticize players but that effort really set me off especially with how he's played so far this year.
Lankford's two fumbles (I mean really?) and the other TO in the first half turned out to be pretty critical. Return game looked pretty darn good again this week. |

The good thing out of this game is that we actually saw the offense score some points and that Lankford was benched after two fumbles. Defense played well in the first quarter but over time our lack of depth and lack of talent were exposed.
Hopefully next week our younger guys get chances and we can at the very least keep within 7 of NU (if not win). I really don't know how we could hold onto our current offensive staff with the way that whole unit has played this season. |

Good effort today. The offense looked good towards the end of the game. Without Jon Davis today, not a bad job. You can certainly criticize the coaches, but anyone who cannot see the lack of talent here really has blind hatred towards Beckman/Thomas.
We need a wide receiver who can create some separation. Nice catch by Milines. |

Rock. Bottom. We have played one of the easiest schedules in the B1G and have nothing to show for it.

I don't know if you meant this to be a double entendre, but it's one of the best I've seen in a while, and it's perfect for this team, coaching staff and season. |

They played hard for four quarters. That's all I can ask.

When compared against their peers in the Big Ten, this coaching staff is horrendous. Beyond bad. Ron Turner & Co. were better and that’s saying a lot.

I understand your point, but we've lost to Indiana at home, Minnesota at home, and now Purdue at home. It's hard to find a silver lining in that slate of losses.

Agreed. There is no silver lining when you're 0-7 in the Big Ten. I think Beckman should be given two more years (three total) to get things moving in the right direction, but so far he's done an awful job. I also have mixed feelings about a head coach who's doing a poor job getting to fire his assistants while getting to keep his own job. If the team is losing, it's the head coach's fault, not the assistants'.

Illinois got ripped by Indiana - and you think they have more talent? The Illinois defense still has quite a bit of talent - they just don't consistently use it for whatever reason. Scheelhause has regressed to the point where.....he's useless. He wouldn't start at Illinois State. Turner made a number of bowls including the Sugar. This crew will never sniff a bowl. Mark it down. Edit: Name a staff in the Big Ten that isn't better than Illinois? |
