On Saturday, November 17, 2013, all eight teams enjoyed an evening under the Hawaiian sky at the 2012 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Players Party. Held at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa Ocean Lawn, the coaches, players and administration spent a casual evening mingling, eating and participating in a video game hosted by EA SPORTS. One player from each team competed in the competition playing EA SPORTS' NCAA Footbal 2013. Sam McLaurin of Illinois earned bragging rights and the 2012 trophy. Congratulations to Sam!

That would have put Butler and Marquette at a severe disadvantage.

I believe NCAA has an option to even up the stats of both teams so a team like Illinois could compete against Alabama.

Sambo works his butt off and I'm sure he'll become a fan favorite.

Like Salty said our guards still can't feed the post. There were four or five times when Sam had to set two or three picks then post up only to have BP wave everyone off for an isolation play. Sam seemed discouraged with BP's lack of trying to feed the post to try and take his man off the bounce. BP might of got his points but he is the only one on the roster who seems selfish and looks for his instead of letting others get involved. Im not saying he isnt our best option in crunch time but he consistently did this the whole game. One time after Sam did all that work BP waved him off and dribbled between his legs twice and launched a well guarded 24 ft three and a couple of other times he tried to drive only to dribble right into one of our guys out of control. It might work vs. the less athletic Butler guards but you can't play 1 on 5 vs the OSU's, MSU's, IU's, UM's and just about any other Big team outside of PSU.

I expect PSU Jermaine Marshall, Ross Travis, and Jon Graham with transfer DJ Newbell showing some good things this year.

CONGRATULATIONS to Sam on winning the EA tournament.

Someone mentioned at the Maui Banquet that in the past, North Carolina has won this video game award prior to winning the Maui Invitational and then the National Championship. This happened once or twice for the Tar Heels, and they were the clear favorite for the video game award this year. Well, 2 out of 3 are now accomplished for the Illini.

No doubt, and thank goodness he didn't open the Video Game Competition by tweeting "F*$# it, I'm going to enter this thing and win it all".
