Oh, Dan. You locked the pregame! I was looking forward to posting about their center swallowing the ball after we go up 2-0! I should type faster.

Anybody know an official tip-off time? Won't be home for another little while, I might be cutting it close if it starts at exactly 7:30...

Players-Only Meeting Held Before the Trip

Quote:
In an undisclosed location at an undisclosed time, the Illini men’s basketball team met without its coaches and tried to save its season. Aside from those vague details, the players divulged little else about their private rendezvous, which happened sometime after Thursday’s loss to Northwestern dropped Illinois’ record to 1-4 in Big Ten play and extended the team’s skid to three straight losses. According to captains Brandon Paul and D.J. Richardson, what was discussed in the meeting, frankly, is none of your business. “It was a players-only meeting so we kept it within us and none of it is going to be let out,” Richardson said. When Paul was prompted for any kind of detail about the top-secret meeting, he basically said to leave it alone. The only information that slipped out before Paul locked his mouth and threw away the key was a desire to return to the team’s early season identity, when Illinois played a fast-paced style and wins over Butler and Gonzaga seemed like trophies, not flukes.

we will know a lot about this game in the first 5 minutes. do they come out flat? or do they respond with a sense of urgency

Neat!

RT @MattLoveless #Illini haven't led in a ballgame since there was 6:29 left in the first half against Minnesota. Spent the last 106:29 tied or trailing.

Last chance for the Sr 3 to show they deserve starter minutes. Come out flat, play poorly, no energy, then time to give the bulk of the PT to guys that will be back next yr.

Play hard, show some onions and tenacity, win or lose in a tightly contested game and you get one more chance the next game.

We can go 4-14 in the conference with BP DJ and TG on the bench. We don't need them for failure, we can fail with younger guys, just my take.

I guess I'm a masochist. I just can't stay away. There's still time to stop the bleeding. This is a must win game if there ever was one.

It's been almost a year since I drove 10 hours to Nebraska. Boy I hope this game is nothing like that.

I was there front and center as well.

Bittersweet. I hated seeing us get dismantled but I walked out optimistic for the future knowing that we would be getting a new coach.
