just hope the ink is dry on the signature this time. The last thing I want to do next week is read a message board post about how nobody wants to work for Beckman/Thomas and now they need to move on to their 87th choice for WR coach. And then that post will be the "source" for trash pieces from Chicago media  __________________ PSA: Teams "LOSE" games. They don't "LOOSE" them. call of the day
Just listened to the podcast with Beckman and Thomas and loved the guy that called in to complain that MT never wore anything orange and blue. The fact that he does didn't seem to bother the guy at all.

speculation on the scout board it is Thomas Woods, former WR coach at Tulane and Ole Miss. He is married to current DIA Asst AD Maria Woods.

Woods spent time at Western Carolina and App State, so it wouldn't surprise me if he knew Beckman. I can't say I'm excited to pluck a WR coach from a terrible mid-major Tulane program who spent a year coaching high school ball after being let go by Ole Miss after the 2005 season. He was let go by Tulane back in December and hasn't been able to land a job since.

Yes, I think all the previous coaches except Butkus had better resume's and I was very excited with the staff coming in to last year.
I guess I would be excited about our OC if I thought we had the type of players to run his system. But it doesn't seem to be a match at this time. __________________ ![]() |

Guess it pays off to know people in high places. At least he can take her for a motorcycle ride and not get in trouble. |

This hire also means one of two things happened. When I figure out which one it is I'll relay that info. |

I've talked to a couple people now who are actually big fans of Woods. So, if he is the guy I guess I shouldn't jump the gun until I see how recruiting and the season goes.

every coach deserves a chance to prove himself.
on the surface, if Woods is the guy, it doesnt appear to be a home run hire. But lets give him a year or two , at least until next December, before proclaiming him a bad hire. Our program is obviously at a bit of a disadvantage at attracting known hotshots right now. |

Home run
Many thought gonzo and Beatty and butkus were home runs. You never know. Chances are all these guys are one and done anyway
