Big boy basketball for sure. At the very least it won't be played in the 40s or 50s like some of the other schools in this conference. It's always enjoyable to look forward to real basketball.

Agreed. But it definitely isn't just this conference with low scoring games. I've watched more than a fair share of Big East snoozers this year.

MSU is a 1.5 pt fav. O/U is 141 which seems high. Selfishly, I want IU to win because of our then owning the tie breaker against anybody in a B1G tourney tie situation.
OTOH, I have too many Loosier friends and relatives that I would have to listen to.

Dan, I don't know if it is possible, now that we are down to 5 games can you put each teams remaining games to the side of their overall record?
e.g.
Illinois 6-7 -1 19-8 Pennst, @Mich, Neb, @Iowa, @OSU

Well, all one needs to do is click on each team and it shows you their schedule. JMO, but I prefer that.

Tough call... is it worse to not win a single game, or to be beaten by a team that has you as their only win in the conference?

I'm leaning toward the second option, mostly because I can't stand Northwestern just that much.

Wow. Iowa could get to 10 wins in conference fairly easily. That would make me puke.

Minnesota should make it to 9-9. Of course, who knows with them.

OSU should get to 10 or 11 wins.

Scoring in college basketball is really, really down this year, and I have yet to hear a fantastic reason why. Sure, teams play more zone defense, but does that really account for the biggest point decline since the early 80's? Do 2-3 zones really prevent almost every power six team in the country from consistently hitting three-pointers? Take a look at this stat I found:

College basketball's points per game has dropped in the past three years just as much as it did in the ten years from 2000 to 2010.

I think some of it had to do with how Georgetown played defense under John Thompson Sr. They would foul on almost every play and the refs would get tired of calling fouls and let them get away with the tough play. As with all things that were successful, other teams followed suit.

Didn't the Big East allow 6 fouls per player for several years?

We've played some of our best games on the road.
Now that we appear to have things going in the right direction, the road games to end the season should be a great way to prepare for the tournament, assuming we take care of business the rest of the way.
