This would have been respectable had we been able to stop the game after the 3rd quarter.

Have to start finishing drives.

Bottom line: We need a capable QB. 3 Ints simply does not cut it.

If you could play without so many mistakes you would b competitive in a few more of these games. Two picks in the red zone hurts a lot. Plus some iffy officiating with the incomplete pass/fumble to start the game and the called back touchdown on the illegal player down field.

Some evidence this staff is pretty good at evaluating recruits. Little evidence they can coach college football.

Special teams burned on two trick plays.

Jewel should have been tossed for hit on Crouch.

Kids looked pretty good in first half. The kids blew that special teams coverage of the fake punt. The ref's always have the game on max difficulty for any Illini team. They fell apart in the second half, but I don't know why everyone blames the staff when it's OBVIOUS that the youngsters are still learning and still making mistakes. You can't freaking coack a team of Fr & So's the same way you'd coach a loaded B1G team with 80% Sr's and 20% Jr's on the field. You can't. It's a work in progress. Figure it out.

I was most impressed with our D-line's rush in the first half. The O-line did a decent job of establishing the run and running a more up tempo offense there. I am looking forward to seeing this team mature and improve.

If you're one of those thinking a coaching change every two years is the answer then you ARE the problem with Illini football. We need stability for four years, we need solid recruiting classes for four years, we need support from the fans for four years and we need some freakin patience. IMHO

VERY true. If we do that to Iowa I guarantee our player is kicked.

I didn't get to see the game, was at a marriage prep class with my fiance who is a Iowa hawkeye grad. It sounds like we hung around for 3 quarters.

We really looked like the better team in the first half. Two JGjr picks in the red zone killed us. We moved the ball extremley well, but they blew our doors off in the second half after our offense sputtered.

Im actually very encouraged after watching this game. Still very frustrated though here is why.

#1 JGJ is the hands down better option over chayce crouch. Even though the score doesnt reflect i believe we should have won this game even by more than 1 score. If this were a team full of JRs n Srs we win in a blowout.

#2 Losing culture is why we lost. This game was decided by 1 count it 1 play the pick 6. After that pick 6 we gave up. The leaders of this team especially the defensive leaders need to keep these guys fired up no matter the situation. That pick 6 took the air out of the whole team. And whats worse is Bonner was WIDE OPEN but JGJ threw a bad throw to Dorsey instead of an EASY TD to Bonner.

#3 this team is DEFINATELY getting better we just have to play through the frustration. The score doesnt reflect but before that pick 6 we were doing very well even with the mistakes we SHOULD have took a 20-17 lead instead we went down 24-10 and the air went out the team.

I disagree. It was a big hit, but he was still running downfield and had barely stepped out of bounds when the hit occurred. It was a bang bang play. Obviously I don't like seeing our players hit like that but it wasn't a dirty play or a penalty

It was targeting. Led with his helmet into offensive players head.

Was at the game and didn't have the benefit if replay, so I'll ask. How do you have an illegal man down field on that slant for a TD?

George gives you a chance to win games. You have no chance with Crouch. That's the predicament. George is the obvious answer at QB. You live and die with him from here on out.

That's what I thought too. This game was decided by way more than 1 play, it was 45-16, not 21-16.

I didn't see the game (I listened to it on the radio), but it was called on Lowe. Apparently he's blocking without taking into account whether it's a passing play or a running play.

This is what happens when you're forced to put players in who really aren't ready.

This OL is so much better with Kramer at C and Allegretti at LG. It sounded like Lowe did fine outside of those two really bad penalties but hopefully Christian is back at LT next week. Boyd, Alex P., Kramer, Allegretti and Dilauro is probably the best OL combination we can put out there.

Seems like he should be able to cut the picks with some experience and coaching. If he can't show some progress there then he'll take a seat too.

Lineman assigned to block the linebacker. Linebacker approached the line and then dropped back into coverage. Lineman followed him. Wasn’t more than 5 yards down field, but very obviously so. Dumb freshman mistake. The type of thing that will get fixed.

The Illini hung in there early and were pulling off some nice runs and for his lack of playing time, George Jr. threw some good passes, and some ones he shouldn't of thrown. Age and inexperience were on full display today, but there are better times ahead for the Illini.
