Wow! Nice event. I love how it looks like they were showing the Ohio State game in the background in one of them.

Yeah in the main room for the NYE's party they were looping thru the season's highlights.

I went to a party in Hollywood Hills for New Year's, but this event seemed like a lot of fun.

I had a good time, and they did the NYE's countdown on Central time (10pm local) so we could get some decent sleep before the parade

That looks like fun. One of my buddies called over the weekend to give me his assessment. He had a good time, the shelling on Jan. 2 notwithstanding, except for what he said was a miserable pre-game party put on by Illinois that cost $55 and was horribly oversold. They had good food, but ran out, and they had limited drink stations and porta potties. They decided to wait until after eating to get a soda, and then stood in line for 40 minutes. He said it was embarrassingly amateurish.

That party was the Illinois Alumni Association Tailgate-



Cost was $65 preorder, $75 at the door, scheduled to go from 11am-1pm.

It was good and it was bad.

It was good if you got there earlier than it was advertised to open (before 11am), that way you'd get your food and there were okay lines for drinks/restrooms.

It was bad if you got there after 11:30am, that's about when the food started to run out and drinks lines were a bad day at the dmv.

It's not like there was a rush of walkups, they knew how many people there would be -- they even announced it there on stage that there were about 5600 in attendance.

Horrible execution. Glad I got there at 10:45am.

Yes, he did say it was an Alumin Ass'n function. Too bad they had so many problems. That's frankly a pretty ridiculous price per head for a piece of chicken and a pop, if you were lucky. By 2032 when Illinois next makes the Rose Bowl, they'll do much better (Oh, let it not be so! )

I stood outside the fence to listen to the band, and they were absolutely horrible. I considered writing a letter to the alumni association, begging them to rent some actual talent next time around. Honestly, my friends and I had to remove ourselves from earshot of the tailgate, it was that bad.
