The bad news is we lost, the good news is if Alex Legion is as good as advertised this team is going to be OK.I think we need to put Chet at the point more, backed up by JJ and play DMac at the 2.I think as the season progresses Richard Semura will be starting.Awsom game by M.Davis.Future starting lineup.
Chet PG
D.Mac 2gaurd
Alex Small foward
M.Davis Power foward
R.Semura Center

GO ILLINI!!!!!!!!!

Watching Trent play only makes me want Legion more.

It looked like lack of conditioning to me. The last 10 minutes had too many mental and physical breakdowns. Davis was understandably spent but the others had nothing left either.

Where is LEGION?????? This team needs a great guard in the worst of ways. Trent is not a starter. A good off the bench player, but not a starter.

What is on Weber is that he never makes defensive adjustments when his man-to- man isn't working. Clemson had a field day with little chippies and layups, backing up our bigs, and avoiding long possessions. Big-time coaches make adjustments and force the other coach to think on his feet. Every Illini opponent knows exactly what defense they are going up against and they never have to prepare for the unexpected. We lost 13 games last year by less than 8 points and Weber is accountable for that as well as the players. How many games did we lose last year when leading at the half? They lost in the second half time and time again because the other coach made adjustments at halftime and during the second half and Weber didn't.

I am not a Weber basher. This team is fun to watch and they will get better. McCamey can shoot but he is no point guard. He has a loose dribble and despite his size he doesn't go the basket well. Davis looks great but Tisdale seemed to revert back to his timid, unproductive days. Semrau played well and so did Keller and Brock. Good balance on this team and the future looks bright.

That's good. Let him shake off a little rust before Mizzou.

Just saw the replay, Trent was open like Weber said. That's why Weber didn't call timeout when McCamey got trapped.

Frazier is going to be a great team leader all season. Meachem will get his shot turned around and I'm hoping Tisdale was just having an off night. McCamey though is and will be in my doghouse until I start to see some hustle from him. I don't care how many points he scores...he just isn't showing that he wants to go out there and win. To me it just looks like when he's out on the court it's all about him. Weber needs to sit him down and set him straight.
And then we will be the same team we were last year. McCamey didn't have a great game but he is still the best guard by far. It is difficult to to try to get a shot off when you are double teamed and Meacham and Frasier are hiding in the corners. Meacham is the worst basketball player on this team completely out of his league. He belongs and Bradley or ISU where he can light up Evansville. If McCamey doesn't want to win why is he busting his ass at the end to get points when no one else can. The other two guards wanted nothing to do with the ball on that last shot. Sitting him down would be the biggest mistake Illinois could make and would only send the program backwards.

Do you guys remember the epic debates involving an ex-Illinois Loyalty poster who was convinced that Dmac was not a point guard, and everyone jumped on him.

That guy was not the best basketball mind on the board by any stretch, but we seem to be unanimously agreeing with him tonight.

I've been a little critical of Dmac on the board lately, and I like him as a player, I really do. He makes this team more exciting to watch than it would be without him. He scored our last five points when no one else was hitting. But, I'm going to remember him jogging nonchalantly up the floor with 7 seconds left for a lot longer than I'm going to remember Chet's horrible, last second drive in the loss to Arizona last year. I haven't been that annoyed with a player in a long time. I'm not placing the blame on Dmac. It's two points. Any number of things could have happened differently. But that crap really chapped my hide, so to speak.

Conditioning may still be a problem for DMac, he played a lot of minutes tonight, could have affected his play. He looked tired at times out there.

While he made some lazy passes and didn't play the best defense, he's the reason we had a chance at the end of the game. I'll take 20 points any day of the week. I'd like to see him get a few more breathers over the course of the game though.

I saw that too. I was wondering if Dmac didn't trust him at that point, or, at least, had stopped looking for him. Where was Mike D? Semrau said the play was supposed to go to him.

For a guy who is notorious for not putting in a lot of effort in practice, I don't find this to be a credible excuse. This is why people are so insistent on "talking about practice."

Completely agree with this line-up.

Tisdale needs to remember he is seven foot before he gets a lot of time and Meacham needs to sit, no D, no ball handling, and no shot against good agressive teams. He completely shuts down when someone gets in his face. Jordan is a nice 3 minute/half sub at PG.

Despite what many are saying here, I think they just wore us down. We looked tired the last 10 minutes of the game and they kept coming at us. I don't know if it was physical or mental or both. Honestly, how many of you thought we could play this type of game and have a chance to win at the end? I think this was a great measuring stick to show the guys what we need to work on and we'll be better because of it. This team hates to lose.

I wish we would have won, but I still feel good about the way we played.

I dont really understand all the talk about McCamey being "lazy" bringing it up on the last play? Was he supposed to drop his head and speed dribble to the other end? He had to take a little bit of time to let the play develop and let his teammates get in their positions to run the set. Its not like he walked it up the court. He got the ball down in position in plenty of time to do what needed to be done. Everything from that point on is fair game, but I dont really see how that makes him lazy or not wanting to win...?

I don't know why we would draw up a play to get Semrau the ball in the final seconds. I like Richard, but he's not the guy we need to touch the ball late.

Should have been Davis with some kind of look. Best player gets the ball in big spots like that.

Didn't hear it directly but have been told on the post game radio interview Dmac says Bruce called a play and Clemson predicted it; there was nothing he could do. He dished it to Chet and its a "shame he didn't get it off in time." Way to step up and take responsibility.

Right on the money ---> I am encouraged because we will win games like this one the 2nd half of the season. Trent is a poor ball handler and he is slow. he seems to have lost his confidence in shooting so he isn't a good starter now. Legion will take his spot for sure.

Legion is a great shooter (we needed that at the end) Legion can get to the hole as well as most in the country (we needed that at the end. With Alex in there we win tonights game. He just needs to work extra hard on his D effort. I am looking forward to Dec 20 !

Go illini beat Georgia.
