Rashard Mendenhall Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year

Benn freshman of the year; Zook coach of the year

The accolades are starting to roll in for the 9-3 Illini football team after the 7-game improvement in the win column over last year. Monday night the Big Ten conference announced the coaches and media list of Big Ten awards. Rashard Mendenhall and Arrelious Benn were unanimous picks as conference offensive player of the year and freshman of the year, respectively. Ron Zook was chosen as the Dave McClain coach of the year, and J Leman, Vontae Davis, and Martin O'Donnell received 1st Team all-conference honors. Official announcement. Thread.
