Trip is costly for Illini
September 6, 2009 12:10 PM
Facing a fourth-and-1 play late in the second quarter and trailing 13-3, Illinois offensive coordinator Mike Schultz knew exactly what the Illini would do at the Missouri 20-yard line.
A play for that situation had been scripted a week before Saturday's Arch Rivalry game, so when quarterback Juice Williams stepped under center Schultz was confident enough to skip a timeout.
But no one counted on Williams tripping and falling on his behind to hand the ball to Missouri on downs.
