Hoomanawanui frustrated by lack of touches

As a senior and team leader, Illinois tight end Michael Hoomanawanui knows his production in the Illini's season-opening loss is an insignificant speck in the grand scheme. There are dozens of more pressing matters.

But as a player who thought he was going to be a major part of the offense, he couldn't help but feel frustrated by his minimal role. Hoomanawanui had one catch for two yards.

"I don't have control over that," he said. "All I can do is be patient and wait for my touches to come. In this offense, it's going to be difficult with all the athletes we have. I was blocking a lot and blocked good and ran a couple of routes where I was open, but by the time I was open Juice was already scrambling or looking different ways. Hopefully things will turn around this week."
