Q: With that speed, is it time for Hawthorne to play both ways?

A: The former East St. Louis High School star was a Parade and USA Today All-American and considered the top prep prospect in the state last season. He finished with 1,009 yards receiving and 28 touchdowns last season on offense and also returned four interceptions for touchdowns. Hawthorne entered preseason camp as a wide receiver, but surgery during the summer to repair a broken hand eventually led to his move to cornerback.

Zook told Hawthorne he should expect to play on both sides of the ball in the future, but it won't be this year, Zook said.
