Zook: 'I'm proud of these seniors'

One week. That is what's left of the careers of Juice Williams, Jon Asamoah, Doug Pilcher and the rest of the Illini seniors. After their sophomore seasons, they thought winning would become a way of life. Since the Rose Bowl, they are 8-15.

"I'm proud of these seniors," Illinois coach Ron Zook said. "They came when it wasn't a good idea to come and wasn't a popular place. They've played their tails off and they've done a lot. They haven't accomplished as much as we want to, but they haven't quit. They've kept fighting."
