QB Jacob Charest leaves Illinois

Sophomore quarterback Jacob Charest has been given his release from Illinois and has returned home to North Carolina, a source said.
Charest has been gone from Champaign-Urbana for about a week. He is exploring his options. Possibilities include a transfer to a Football Bowl Subdivision school, a Football Championship Subdivision school or a Division II school. No decision has been made, the source said.
