Wilson grasps the defensive concepts better than his critics give him credit, Koenning said.
"He was a defensive end in high school, and he has football instincts," inside linebackers coach Dan Disch said. "He was real raw at linebacker. Now, I feel like he can play linebacker. I thought last year he would have a breakout year. This is essentially his junior year. That's when J Leman and Brit Miller became really good players for us.
"This year, he's got to be the guy."
