What happened to the defense?

What's happened to that great Illinois defense that statistically was among the elite in the country before the shootout at Michigan last week? The last two games, Vic Koenning's crew has allowed 105 points and 1,037 yards. The players for Illinois are the same, but something isn't working. Maybe it's overconfidence. Or maybe the Wolverines and Gophers can really move the ball. It's likely the former.
